a lot of guys like the star specs for a performance tires (some track time, aggressive street driving etc....). a 280 tread wear tire will be starting to scarifice handling/performance for longevity as chris said. if your not using the car for track/autocross/spirited driving, then get the higher treadwear tire. i went through 6 sets of tires through the 100,000 miles on my 8. the last set i used some khumo ASX (430 tread wear)all season tires for the street. lasted a really long time (but were awful for "fun" driving). i had a second set of wheels for the track with better tires.

if you want the better handling still, i would try the star specs.

Kracka made a good call on tires, daily driving on performance tires really isn't good use of your money. I am going with Star Spec's this next time just to give them a try so I can give a subjective review. Noisy tires or uncomfortable ride aren't of any concern to me, nothing can be louder than the pillar and dash noises I have. I don't hear anything at the track or cross except for the occasional Iron Eagle soundtrash playing in my head! ^_^

Glad we could take care of that for you, Jose. Let me know when you are ready for those tires.

Just ordered some Swift Spec R's for my Bilsteins. Looks like I'll be coming back in a couple weeks for another alignment.

These guys are good. Awesome work and great advice.

Well, it looks like Kyle and Forrest are going to be the ONLY people working on my vehicles wheels from now on. I just took my wife's Honda CR-V over to Discount Tire in The Colony today to fix a leak and rotate/balance and some dip**** ground the paint off of about 16 of the 20 lug holes all the way to the metal and all the way around the lip. I complained, told them I am done with their bullcrap after having so many problems with them on about 4 different cars. They tried to make amends, "We can have the wheels repainted free of charge.", thanks! How about not messing them up in the first place...? Another nice added feature was they used a metal blade to remove the old wheel weights and galled the hell out of the inner wheels as well.

I normally tell them manual on and off for the lug nuts, but I forgot this time, I still don't think I could say that it is my fault. They should at least look at one of the lugs and go..."My bad" and not just go and do the same thing to all 20 nearly. I mean, if my only job was to fill a cup with water, and that is all I had to do everyday, I think I would be really damn good at it!

Sorry to rant, just wanted to let anyone know that might be considering Discount Tire in The Colony, just don't do it...I think Kracka also had issues with Firestone in The Colony as well. Just save your time and money and drop your car off at PTP and go to the Zoo or something, that is what I should have done.

So, I will be hitting you guys up for some new tires and mount/balance for the family car coming up soon! I know it ain't no sports car or even fun to work on but it's y'alls problem now!

I finally got around to installing my Carbotech pads today. Man I really appreciate the heads up on these Kyle, they are amazing. I nearly threw myself out the windshield when I was bedding them in! Actually, I had my tuning laptop in the car and I have never had an issue with it in the seat, tonight it went flying about 60mph through the car! Good times...

Excellent work again

I put my Bilsteins back on my car, but this time with some Swift springs. What a difference over the Tein's!

Anyway, what's really awesome is the great service I got from Kyle and Forrest at PTP for my alignment. Their attention to detail, and pressure to get your car on a track, is nothing you can find at those big shops (like NTB, who ran my s2000 into a curb and took their sweet time reimbursing me...so long it wasn't worth the hassle).

I took my car back today because I thought I had an issue with my most recent alignment. Turns out I ran over a nail, but rotated the tires and checked pressures when doing the spring install so it felt like the pulling was due to my alignment. Kyle could have just said "bad tires or bushings" but instead was determined to discover what was making the thing pull. Sneaky little black nail .

The ride home was perfect, thanks guys.

Thanks for the kind words! Getting a suspension dialed in and setup properly isn't difficult, it just takes a little more time and attention to detail. While we would love to see all of you guys make it to a track event if you haven't yet, we understand that your Evo is often your daily driver and needs to perform dual duty.

Thanks for being some of our best customers NTEC!

I need to schedule an appointment with yall next week to roll my rear fenders and possibly realign my car. Putting on some 18x9.5" and 275/35-18 star specs this weekend if my other 2 wheels get in.

Regarding the star specs, if they are noisy it must only be apparent with stock or very quiet exhaust because I never noticed any increased sound from them on my car, granted my exhaust is loud. They do handle awesome though, lasted better than the advans, hooked harder than the advans, and were cheaper

Tell Forrest to roll your rear fenders like he did mine. He did an amazing job, no chipping or anything, he didn't full pinch the lip so the caulk didn't break.
