It is true you have to pay to play LOL!! I bought the Evo specifically because I wanted to race it. It's a great car for autox and track. You just have to accept that things may go wrong time to time. Racing definitely isn't for everyone for that reason. I'm definitely not done with racing by a long shot. I've just started this year so we'll see where it goes. If the reliability of the Evo gets too crazy, I'll look at a separate race car with cheaper upkeep. I still like the way the s2000 handles itself at the autox events and track

Why not have sex with HIV infected crack hoes too? Or shoot up with come heroine with a shared needle? Just as risky. Sorry Jose, that's just not smart. If your rich... great! Race away. If your not then don't. I'm not rich therefore I don't race where I am not going to be covered. Seen two people in the last month have bad things happen that will cost them 5 to 7 thousand dollars. Its a risk I'm not willing to take if I'm not covered.

I asked myself when before I got mine, "Can I afford a new long block?". Had I not answered yes, I would have gotten something else. Not that I am looking to have to do that, but it is always a possibility.

Now that isn't fair, there have been way more Evo's in trouble off the track than on it. Hell, Mark's car let go on a dyno, didn't mlomker's let go on the way to the strip, etc, etc. Everyone always focuses on "that one guy" theory. I can promise you Justin didn't drive his car any harder on that strait away than he does driving to work everyday. I am probably harder on my car daily driving than I am on it during the 3.5 minutes per event.

This is 100% true. We were beating on the cars more on our evo cruise last January than I do at a autoX. I definitely drive the car harder from work and back. AutoX is mainly just hard on your tires and brakes.

And also true about the short block. I'm by no means rich, all you guys know that. I just knew what I was getting myself into before I got into it, so I wasn't totally surprised. I think more evos are blown up on the street than on a track from what I have read on the forums. I think I may be the first one ever to kill it at a auotx. At least Ive never heard of one.

I know how you feel, I absolutely love my car. I am more excited today, 3 years later, to drive it, as I was the first day off the lot. Never felt that way about a car. So I feel you, I haven't driven mine much in the last few weeks, but I do go for the occasional 30 mile gas run...

thats a terrible reason not to track your car the number of wrecked and blowed up evos on the street is i bet a magnitude of order higher then on the track but track experience teaches you how to handle and control those on street experiences others might panic in.

and i was thinking, who would be interested in a community race car? say get an old worn out evo 8, put a cage, fire system, restraights, etc... mild, reliable power, and let people who want to use it , rent it, or buy into the build? it takes the risk of smashing your own car up out of the equation. cant figure out how to deal with wrecks and liability though.... i know there are solutions so its a matter of which way to do it

This coming from the man who organizes evo meets at strip clubs

And you said you've dropped over 20g into your car and you don't race it? You can't honestly think that using 450whp on streets is safer then a track with run off right?

That's a awesome idea. waiver form, you break it you buy it LOL!! Maybe you could get 10 or so people buy into the build. Or build it and rent it out as a instructor.

That sounds awesome but I am afraid I might throw up if I have another beer right now... I am going to be detoxing like crazy tomorrow, only non liqueur I had in the past 3 days is 2 glasses of sweet tea. Cheers to a good time!
