Death to all white camrys...
A camry ****er kept going left and right on the left lane trying to pass the car in front of him till he drove over a big *** 18 wheeler tire tread chilling on the left side of the lane and launched it literally towards my car doing 75... It was going straight for my intercooler (which i just had installed last weekend!) but I jerked to the right side to avoid it which I wasnt able to... Completely avoid it... It annihilated my undertray and my driverside fog light.. I looked around with a flashlight and took out the plastic cover that belongs to the fog light unit as well as the unit itself... Clear taped a glad white trash bag after chopping it for the emptiness of the fog light area...
The bumper on the driver side has sliced open on two areas... One 3 inch and another one about an inch... Gonna need to get a new bumper, new undertray, new fog light unit (the thing is annihilated, the light bulb exploded and the wire that goes to the lightbulb is split in half..).
It could have been a lot worse... I am glad it isnt but still... I called up my insurance, who knows how long it will take them to get to call me then I gotta be without my evo for who knows how long... Bah this blows..
ps: sorry about the picture quality, I only had my blackberry with me to take pictures.

Yes, yes it does. That looks frightening. I'm knocking on wood as I type this, but I've had a few scary run-ins, myself.....luckily no contact though.
I had one night where some idiotic chick in a Civic was in one of those "U-turn" lanes under the Bush and failed to notice that not only did my side have the green light, but we were fast approaching where she'd planned to be. Evidently the "yield" part of the yield sign is lost on her. Had I not hit the brakes and jerked my wheel hard to the right, she'd have taken my front end with her.
Since I've gotten this car, I find myself cringing and tensing up when I have to hit something on the road in front of me, no matter how small. Even a fast food wrapped blowing in the breeze has made me freak for a half-second before it donned on me what it was.

I went to my mitsu dealer to see if I could use their lift for a minute and get some of those push-in pins. Apparently I had about 14 of them missing after that tire hit me... Now my undertray is fine till a new one is ordered and I went to LOWEs and got me a vinyl tarp that I folded 4 times and cut it for the size of zie fog light and white duct taped it to the bumper... I feel terrible for jerry rigging it but it is pretty much the only option I have to protect the SST cooler till I get it all fixed... I used to love labor day weekends but not this year, I hope the insurance guy calls me on Tuesday and we get the ball rolling on fixing this. The real question is... I mean I pay 1800 for 6months (literally full coverage with the optional crap minus roadside assistance because I have the 5 year mitsu one) I could try to get new rims out of it which is far fetched but geez... I should at least try?. Advan RS black ones have been very tempting lately... The inner fender liner is all torn apart and if I take the wheel all the way to the right there is contact with my tires so I will have the insurance get me new tires.

So I spent a good amount of time over the last week helping one of my employees buy a beater. He drives > 100 miles a day and was way upside down on his last few cars. They have one car that they're going to be paying on a while that they rolled a bunch of negative equity into and he was bumming rides... so he needed something.
Our budget... $2000.
We looked at some real turds. Got lucky on one as the people in front of us bought it and after that we noticed all sorts of bad things (panel gaps, missing trip, shocks blown, the car was a POS). Missed a SWEET e30 that was enthusiast owned and maintained for $1500 down in Houston (guy had 50+ emails).
We finally got lucky and ended up with a 98 200sx SE. FWD, good on gas (35+mpg), interior in fantastic shape. AC is super cold. Exterior needs a wash really bad. Talked him down a bit and came in under budget
So... a little test for you. Given $2000, go out and find an economical, in decent shape car that you'd daily drive. Must have AC. Stick shift (so no auto transmission swaps/services needed, clutches are easy). Good fuel economy a must.

Forgot about the yellow Golf VR6 we test drove. 214k miles. Newish bright yellow paint job (decent). It was on icebear tires. The guy says "ya I got it from Pennsylvania." Uh oh. AC worked great. Interior was in decent shape. Had a roof rack for bikes. Shifter felt terrible like you were stirring beans. Parking break done.
Completely rusted out. Core support, exhaust, frame, wheel wells, doors... you name it it was cancered.
He tried to say he had a guy that would fix it for $500. There was no cure for that car but to crush it

Woohoo... 4k in damages. Sst cooler is damaged as well so that's gonna be replaced... LICP is just stratched up won't be replaced but took 150 bucks off the deductable so I will pay 350 for the whole thing but the sad thing is that I will have to buy 3 tires becaust they will get me only 1 tire... Back rim is scuffed up too but they will just buffer it. They said they could get me a new rim but I don't have the money to get 3 new rims...
Push the insurance to cover 4 new tires if they are replacing one. It's required for the car. You can have the body shop/Don tell them as such. Tires *must* be replaced in 4's (you know this though).
Instead of going with the chrome ring on the front bumper I'm having them get the gsr one so I don't have to paint it. I will be away from my baby for at least 2 weeks though...
