local Pittsburgh Meet
i had a fun day today. i made every possible change i could think of the sway bar and bracket configuration. i even switched it back to the stock sway bar.
ya know what i found out?
my ears where playing tricks on me. the noise was coming from the FRONT.
i figured it out just a little bit ago when i put the stock sway bar back in and went for a test ride with my friend. made a right turn and sure enough it made the pop, and my buddy said he could feel it and hear it right under his feet.
i had him drive for a second, and sure enough, it's coming from the front tire.
it's too late tonight, but i am gonna check the lugs on that front wheels tommorow. this defintely verifies my theory that the tire shop f*cked something up when they put my new tires on. never going there again.
and when i took the car to the dealership, they didn't bother to check out where the noise was coming from, they put it up on the lift just long enough to see my rear sway bar, then took it down and told me that the sway bar was smacking into my subframe during cornering. what d*cks.
so i think i am gonna check those lugs then go put a foot straight up the a$$ of the guy that put my tires on.
on a totally unrelated note, anything going on this weekend?

hey mondo. sounds like the strange noise many people have had! i have had the same thing. try jacking the car up and just putting it back down. sounds strange but. also if you do a search alot of people have this, seems to be either the spring, or the top of the bump stops. some have greased it, some have put rubber hose on the top of the spring. I seem to only get it with my winter tires on. after i've jacked the car up. i have put it back up on the jack and then tested it and have gotten it to go away. I've really never found any reason for this. just a strange bizarre thing. seems to be mostly when your going slow and a right turn. oh well i no this makes no sense but good luck! really you should not worry to much. although it is very scary sounding
here you go mondo! have fun reading.

Ryan's Goodyear on Rt 51 South Pleasent Hills is the one the one i went to. they have several other locations too.
avoid these *******s at all costs.
the last three times i have been there have been nothing but problems.
on my last car (2002 mercury cougar) they left the ebrake cable hanging off and it wrapped itself around my axel. why would you have the ebrake cable off in when changing a tire to begin with you say? well that's a good question. and unfortunately no one was able to answer it for me there.
then, to get my winter tires mounted for my evo it tooke them 4 and a half hours.
and now this.
i was willing to forgive the ebrake cable. i understand that sometimes things get jostled around. i was even willing to forgive the 4+ hour wait to get tires mounted. sometimes the shop is busy. but whatever they f*cked up this time is just ridiculous.
and the fact that mitsu wouldn't even attempt to track down that noise when they saw the sway bar irritates me too.
it's all good though, i'm gonna take one more look at it today, and if i can't get it, i've been reccomended a real good mechanic who is a friend to one of my friend's familys.
and jer, thanks for the link!
the thing that kills me is that they USED to be a great shop, when the owner was there everyday. but it seems that now that the owner is semi retired and isn't involved in the day to day, that it has just gone to hell.
hey is anyone going out to the north park autoX cross tommorow?
is it even going on?
and whose red evo was down at south park mitsu getting an inspection today?
i saw it up on the lift when i went to make my service appointment.

Auto X and PRP
Here is the North Park site...nothing going on up there tomorrow.

I am going up to PRP tomorrow. I have to see how the new Tilton clutch is going to run. I better be in the low, low 12's.
That was probably me in Monroeville at the CompUSA. I work in Churchill and I stopped in there to pick up a wireless card.

apperently newbie driver school is next saturday, and there is an autoX the next day.
i am going to try to attend both. most importantly the newbie driver school.
i want to make sure i have a clear idea of what i am doing so i don't massacre too many cones.

it's a good time too. i went last week to watch jer do some some runs and check it out. everyone is very friendly and very helpful.
evil, what part of pittsburgh are you in?
