Rest of the gears I only tapped it out to 8300 rpm thru the rest of the gears and jumping out of throttel FTW at 8000 rpm in 4th.

I gotta go look at that log again to see if the tires spun in first. That is why I missed 2nd against Bryce in the Z06 we hit first and it just ripps straight up and I tried to nail 2nd but couldnt put it together that quick that time
yeah you raced keiths brother then. try to find keith next time you're up there, supposedly has a ten second street stang and a 9 sec drag stang.

anyway, about your logs. what kind of knock you seeing if any? i cannot get rid of like 3 counts of knock around 4-5k when im spoolin. boost hits extremely hard, like 9psi all the way up to 34 psi in less than 1000rpm. up top at 8000rpm, i see no problems at all. in fact, ive leaned out to 12.4 at wot on e85 just to see where the threshold is and i may only see 1 or two counts up at the top of my map with the engine screaming, but nothing consistant. i run now at 11.6-12.0 at wot just to be safe. however, down low around 20-25psi at moderate rpms, im knocking everytime and the aem is pulling timing so i know its significant.

i added fuel in my trouble area and even pulled a degree or two of timing out that range and cannot seem to rectify it. ive learned to live with it, but it bothers the hell outta me, because afrs are low 11s in that range and boost in the 20 psi range is nothing for that turbo or that engine. just wondering if you're seeing anything similar.

hope this post makes sense

anyone have any input?

Garrett ,

I am actually going to grab the other laptop and take a look again at my log. I seen max of just over 3 volts on knock activity. I am not sure where it happen at. gotta look.

From what I remember the knock activity was very low. Ill post up some more info on it after I look.

unfortunatly what you may be experiencing is nothing more than your knock sensor pickin up noise at a certain rpm range , and of cours the AEM doing what its suppose to do with knock control on , pull x amount of timing per volt over your threshold.

My threshold is 3volt I believe yours was as well !!!

looked over my latest logs from last week. heres the breakdown:

9psi at 4500rpm to 35psi at 5700. im seeing the most knock retard activity in this range. afrs are in the 11s.

highest raw knock im seeing throughout the pull is 3.8
highest knock voltage is 2.7

the peculiar thing is all my timing is being pulled in the 4500-5700 rpm area. knock retard is showing up to 6* which seems very significant. the occasional knock occurs at random places in the map anywhere from 4000 all the way up to 8500 and it never breaks 3 counts. fuel is not the issue, and i tried to pull some timing while maintaining a smooth map with the breakpoints.

shawn once told me that its just the torque of the engine making all that noise and its almost impossible to get rid of, but i wanted to check in with you since dave is our tuner. If your **** looks the same as mine than im not worried

Ok Garrett

My knock is really not happening during spool TQ peak. I actually have seen mine high in rpm's

but I dont have enuff logs to say it is repetitive.

quick look at what I am saying about my first gear . I go from 20 psi @ 6200rpm @ 15:48 log time , to 30 psi @ 9600 rpm @ 15:49 log time this is ripping thru 3000 rpm in 1 second.

The 2 highest knocks in my logs have been 3.6 volts , 1 at 9000 first gear , and also in 3rd @ 8200rpm

The first gear log is rolling into throttle at very low speed first gear roll. Thats why boost is coming in later.

Garrett ,

How many degree of timing gets pulled out Per Volt of knock over your threshold??

You have to go in and look at your knock control calibrations , you can see how many degree David has you set up to pull in knock events over the threshold.

Good to see you logging the Volt Retard that is truly the only way of interpreting wether the AEM has actually seen knock. Even tho Knock Volts is suppose to be the proper Knock activity reading to go by. But knock Volt Retard is a better indicator of actual events

i wanna say 2.X amount of timing gets pulled per volt but not sure. i put the laptop away and am about to retire for the night.

i may pm dave or just wait till nate comes down to the garage and see if he'd look at my logs.
im not really worried because like i said my afrs are good and on e85 my timing isn't extreme either. plus the car pulls really strong you've witnessed it first hand. ill see if anyone else has input, then maybe ill take my question to "the one" (Buschur)

That is correct Dave. That is what I'm asking Garrett to look at in his knock control calibration

I can't believe how much that church cruise in Wexford has changed. I used to go there almost every friday in the summer of 2003-2004. They never filled the parking lot!! And what's with the sonic across the street now?!...is that PA's first sonic or something? All those times I saw sonic on TV and could never have it, and then when I leave they build one?! Oh well, I may be back in the springtime. Getting tired of Florida, and miss the burgh. But one more winter in warmth won't kill me

Dan called me up and my car is done. He said the car pick up about 30+whp with the upgrades. Now I just need to get out there and pick it up (and pay for it lol). He didn't have the exact #s in front of him. So that should put me at around 335-337whp. Just that much closer to the 400whp goal on pump gas.

OK guys, indulge a newbie Evo8 owner. How much oil do I need to put in for an oil change? Owners manual is vague. Says pan holds 4.6qt, filer 0.3qt, and something else 0.3qt. That's 5.2qt. But I want to find out from others before I dive in.
