cams and fmic. u can drop in any of the hks cams with no need for valvetrain or camgear upgrades. bye just dropping in the 272's on the stock turbo i gained 28whp just making fuel adjustments at the time with a afc

That would prob be the next thing i do is cams. do you like the 272s? waht did you end up paying for them after install? or did you do it. is your car built or stock block and everything?

it seemed to run ok but just like interstate driving at partial throttle it wanted to jump and hesitate.. really jumpy unless you were full throttle. no matter how much i adjusted the bov

still stock motor and valvetrain probably not building it till next winter hopefully not sooner but i am running pretty conservitive tune with almost zero knock at all so it should last. i think i payed around 400 for the install and whatever they cost 500 or so but looking back doing the cams is really a easy install. i have done honda cams on their dohc motors but something about the 30k pricetag on the evo kept me from crackin open the motor myself. if it was today i probably would do them. i do like them they made power on the dyno from start to finish no drop in tourqe anywhere the graph looked the same but only phatter

nicee. yeah i would go with the 272s myself also. And yeah the 30k$ keeps me from getting too extensive on my own installs. cams... ill stay away from taht one. but as far as reliability goes.. is it gonna be ok with these cams for everyday for ahwile or waht.

yeah i had mine in for about a year now with no issues. they are stock lift just a longer duration so the stress on the valvetrain is not that great. but its never a bad idea to upgrade valvetrain. u could easily rev 8k+ with upgrade. only thing is the stock turbo really runs out of steam around 7k even with a good tune so there is no point except for drag racing. i tach mine out to 8k in 4th gear when i am racing at the track and shift around 7600k in all other gears. and i havnt floated a valve yet

I want to eventually go with a bigger turbo. but one that i can use to beat around town in that doesnt have a long spoolup time. still want the factory spool . just with a bigger bang. how is your spool with the GT3076R. i bet its a beast on the interstate

spool is good around 4k according to my dyno graph. but i think its a little longer on the street around maybe 42-4300 or so. i would consider it a good street turbo although the new 20g-lt from buschur looks like a real nice bolton turbo. it flows a little less but is probably a little quicker spool.

buschur made i believe 450whp with the new 20g-lt but i believe it was maxed out and on c-16 dont know how much boost to get that power. i made 420whp same dyno on 104 octane and 25psi. with actually my 93 octane map. no tuning was done at 25psi possibly could have made more power if we tuned at 25psi much more boost to be had out of the 30R. and power if we were to tune on c-16 and ran more boost

weird thunking sound

hey everyone,
j/w if u have any experience/ideas about this... ever since a few weeks ago the front left of the evo has been making a thunking sound everytime it goes over a bump in the road. i cleaned out all the mud (there was mud caked in the well above the shocks like 3 inches deep) and the wheel wells. this fixed the crazy vibration at 60+ that was gonna snap my neck but no luck with the thunking sound. could this be a busted strut/spring? suspension issue? any ideas? or how to checK?

thanks
