The EVO X is a good looking car. Not great but good. In the same way an EVO7 was a good looking car but a IX looks bad ***. It is a car that I would hope would only improve as the XI and XII are built on what they learn with it.
Lots of room for a bigger turbo in that car too.

response from brembo about peeling calipers
Just thought id share this with u guys
My apologies, as Ken asked me to contact you a week ago regarding the paint issues on your EVO calipers noted in your e-mail. Brandon sent me a copy of your second e-mail, so I know you are looking for some solution to the caliper problem.
I do not have any positive information to tell you, except try to explain how Brembo works with automobile manufactures like Mitsubishi. The Brembo calipers are a contracted part developed between both both companies. The parts must meet certain validation requirements set by both companies. The paint process, from what I understand, was defined by Mitsubishi and Brembo met those requirements. The calipers are technically become Mitsubishi parts and there is no back door for parts into Brembo because of the contract with Mitsubishi as our customer.
The problem is well documented on various websites/forums of what appears to be a clear coat peel. I do know Mitsubishi NA has been very frustrated with the problem and lack of direction/fair response from their parent company in Japan. I believe changes were made in the paint process. I do not know the details, but can try and find out as this was handled between our OE department in Brembo Japan and Mitsubishi Japan.
Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of finger pointing by the consumers and the dealers back at Brembo looking for satisfaction. I work for the Brembo NA High Performance Division, so we seemed to field most of the complaints when Mitsubishi dealers didn't give a lot of EVO customers any help, but it truely is a problem that needs to be handled by Mitsubishi as is their warranty. Some people got results from contacting various dealers, some re-painted the calipers and I am sure some just gave up on Mitsubishi.
I am sorry that I nor Brembo NA can not be of more help. I might suggest contacting the regional service manager for Mitsubishi or contact their NA headquarters here in Cerritos, CA and see if there is any help someone higher up can offer.
Let me know if you have any more questions and I will do my best to answer them.

warranty
Information from the other side
Mitsbishi evolution counts for 5% of all mits sold in united states...Yet they count for 42% of all warranty claims.....Basiclly every part of the car is expensive....To put four new calipers on a car the value is around 6500.00.....The distict reps have started to take a stance that if its out of warranty ITS OUT....As a dealer I try to pressure the Dist rep to step up and take of some of my customers...And he has done more than most reps would every allow......In the most recent brake calipers in question.. the car had 3yr/36000 warranty which was out in 2006...also a third owner car...The question why didnt the orginal owner get the brakes fixed fixed when the problem started....

As for the wing, how many cars do you see driving around with the finish peeling off? Maybe some early 90's neons and chrysler minivans? How many post 2000 $30,000 + vehicles do you see it on? can anyone think of any?
The sad part is that this would sway me from purchasing another mitsubishi in the future and being in the demographic that would purchase a newer evo later.
Like i said nothing against you..just my two cents
Gotta love mitsubishi.......
but we all know why we like the car and mitsu knows why we like the car and they could put a turd in the trunk and we would still buy it and deal with the smell.
Just not many cars out there that deliver the performance and potential for the $30k price tag. Mitsu knows this and politely tells us to deal with it.......
This reiterates my statement that if you spend a lot of money within the dealership on service etc, you have better luck of getting that extra special treatment...and someone who has your back
because those are the type of "customers" that the dealership wants to keep happy - no matter what....Not someone like me who wont give a dealership a dime, I feel I did enough by buying a 30k car.

Well at least it's not a GM.
Not only would they not be polite they'd tack on a $56.00 diagnostic fee and chip off some of the paint on the hood when they run it through their automatic car wash AND not fix it.
C6 vettes routinely had the roofs ripping off the early cars at high speed due to some weak glue they used. GLUE! to hold the ROOF down on an 70k zo6.

In all honesty, I think the Brembo guy is full of $hit. Brembo is painted on the caliper, not Mitsu. So when I think of Brembo, I think of great mechanical parts and the worlds worst paint. I'd hate to have my name written on a product that looks like some of our calipers do. If they cannot do anything about it, then maybe mitsu should have looked elsewhere for the X brakes. I just don't buy the fact that it's all mitsu's fault. I'm real curious to see how the Brembo's on the SRT-8's hold up. They're red too.
Other cars with factory brembos have similar issues. Subbies the paint just about falls off. Edit: Well not that bad but the paint gets beat up and looks like poop.
