Hey Jeremy, why do you say the spring rates are bad? Most people really seem to like the Megans which have identical spring rates of 8k front and 6k rear. I know that it is more likely to promote understeer, but is that why? Just curious.

There are those that have said they have dropped significant time (2+ seconds) off of their laps with these coilovers and also got a more compliant ride.

THe grey one is perfect. It might be a Z-tune. Has the same hood. THAT would be the car to get. Only 20 of them built and Nismo of Japan kept 2!!!

Edit: the more i think about it, it cant be a Z-Tune - they were all painted silver. Still sexy....

A friend sent me this after I posted. Read post #2 It certainly sounds reasonable.

It certainly does make sense to me, but the bottom line is that I want to be able to adjust my ride height and if I really want to promote some more oversteer/neutral handling - i'll get a sway bar or get some stiffer rear springs.

Does anyone have any Motul dot 4 brake fluid that I could buy? Or does anyone know where you can get it local? I need it quicker than I can get it shipped.

Dan i just got two bottles yesterday from my dad. If you need one let me kno.

Canixican, Read Dave's post and that will explain alot. I am on my 2nd set of springs myself like someone said on there. You will buys alot of springs if you want setups for different things. Now don't get me wrong cheap coilovers do have some benifit but really not worth it in my opinion. The stock suspesion is pretty darn good and if you put just some springs on them you'll be set.

2 sec gain! LOL, Lord how can you even possiblly use that as a selling point. I mean 2 sec where? Auto-x, road course, street racing? That is a impossible thing to say unless you do back to back testing just like you need on a dyno. Really if you want to go faster, save your money and buy tires. This is the most important thing you can do to your car. Coilover are probably 3 or 4th on the list. IMO.

It was an AutoX course that the guy "claimed" he gained two seconds. Most people really seem to like them more than the stock suspension - don't know if it is because it is just something new or if it is really that much better. I really like the idea of being able to adjust the dampening though. I'd also be able to keep the height low in the summer, high as possible in the winter. If my car was not a dd, i'd invest in some more track-oriented type coilovers with more aggressive spring rates. I know that just springs will get the job done, but I want more adjustability - for the difference in price, its worth it to me.

Well i can't really argue with that. Adustability is a nice thing. Now i'm assumining you kno that when you change ride height you need to readjust allignment. So i'd suggest maybe getting two setting that you like, and mark the approximant allignment setting so you can adjust as needed. Still tires will make more of a difference. Also i'd really look into sway bars. If your running low spring rates you can help that with sway bars. See if i had to do it all over again i'd go

Tires
F and R sway bars
coilovers.
bushings
Then any other little thing you can thing of.

I went bacward pretty much on my modding. And don't get me wrong there is no exact right way. Its just if you looking to get the best times for you money the above is the way to do it.

Thats what I thought too, but imo its kind of a pain to adjust them and once I paid for a corner balancing and alignment, I said f it and drive year round as it sits.

I bought cheap coilovers (stance) and I like them a lot. Only on the roughest roads do they ride worse then stock and they did me well on the wilson ct at beaverun. Maybe once they need rebuilt I will go with something better, but for now im enjoying them.

when i eventually get my money together for coilovers, i am planning on using the stock suspension for winter, and putting on the c/o's for summer only. i've seen what two winters has done to my camber plates, and it's not pretty.

it's only about a 3 hour job to swap out suspensions, assuming you don't have have to mess with spring compressors. granted you will need an alignment everytime, but i think in the long run you will get alot better longevity out of your suspension that way.
