i couldn't hear it with the clutch in, revving made it go away, but i couldn't hear it during the rev.

could be just some chatter...what clutch do you have? When my clutch went out last time it started chattering, it did that for the longest time until it went out

 

its a stock clutch with 12k on it. only a handful of auto X. no launches, but one good burn

 

yeah its getting close.....how does it feel? when does it grap? 1/4...1/2....or 3/4 pedal out?

 

if it goes away when you press in the clutch pedal it is most likely your throw out bearing chattering around.

every evo does that after a bit of driving. it usually gets louder when you run the A/C too for some reason.

if it is chattering at idle, yes it is most likely that.

If so I agree with MondoBongo. TO bearing. They start to get noisy like that as time goes by.

Just turn the radio up 2 more clicks.

As always, when you are worried about a noise, smell, chatter or rattle is welcome to come for a ride in my car for 5 minutes. It's almost an instant cure for those who fear some sound they are having.
