May 13th Pennsylvania Spring Run
Hey folks..
Sorry for the red but it helps to set my messages apart from the others and will contain valuable info rather then just a regular response by me..
So ok here is the deal.. Some of us are going to want to take some of the roads at a more brisk pace <AT YOUR OWN RISK> so what I will do is lead the pack and all of those that wish for a quicker pace <NO PRESSURE> will come up front with me. The cars that want regualar pace will stay to the back. We will do our thing but will wait at all intersections for the normal pace group to catch up. We WILL NOT LEAVE YOU!!
If it is a blind intersection where you could come around the corner and not see us we will wait on the other side where you can see us. These will be back country roads so I expect traffic to be fairly light. There will be a drivers meeting before the run that will outline basic safety concerns etc..
This will allow drivers of both pace to enjoy at their own pace.
One thing I want to stress is how imprtant TWO WAY RADIOS are on an event like this.. Ebay is a good source for picking up one of these at a cheap price.. I do promise that if this is a success that I will put other events together.. so your investment will not go to waste. I have several routes that I have ran with success in the past and would love to keep doing this for the Evo group..
A Motorola Talk About Plus or Talk About 250 are in my opinion from experience the best you can get for the money. The speakers are more clear then newer models and the range is even better regardless of what the newer models claim.
Questions?? Concerns??
Your feedback before and after this event are always welcome.. Just please keep it constructive and not nasty. These driving events are no piece of cake to put together.
Thanks,
Craig

youre doing a great job with the organizing. i think i can get a hold of a few of those two ways as we used to screw around with them on ski trips (4-6) so i'll bring extra if possible.
What about using cell phones, everyone has them. We could just exchange numbers between different paced groups to communicat. Like lead car talking to other lead car? The two ways are definately the best for something like this, though.

For hearing directions or cautions such as. "Hey watch out for that biker on the right" or "big pothole" or even better... "5.0." nothing works as well as a two way.
It is of course not required but if you have some time with one you will see that they are worth the small investment on ebay for a used one. Not only that but its cool to banter back and forth a little while on the road..
If you don't have one you will be fine. I am not leaving anyone behind.
Hey folks.. I want to put this out there for you guys to consider..
Below is an email I received from the family of someone attending this event.
Please take a look, visit the web site, and give this some serious consideration.
Anything helps.
Hi Craig,
I would like to ask if your drivers would be willing to make a donation to our cause when you go on your Evo Run or if you guys would be interested in having a road trip just for the cause. We help cancer patients in the area with their financial burdens during treatments. www.hollyheilmancancerfund.com
Our fund does an "Iron Butt" ride in June. This is a 1000 mile ride, on motorcycles, in 20 hours. I thought this might be a great concept for you guys. Last year the bikes went to Tennesee for a BBQ and came back. They get sponsors for the ride and raised over $2000.00 for us last year. (Sort of like a walk-a-thon ) At the end of the ride all milage is checked and in September we have another event (poker run / party) and all participants recieve their certificates. If your group is interested in doing something like this, or would just like to donate, that would be great!!!
Let me know about any feed back and thanks for your concideration.
Sincerely,
Heidy L. Coldren

Huh. I wonder what we could do with that. Maybe a run to a pro race (spectate only) at Pocono or The Glen or even Summitt Point and back. Something like that would be cool.
Someone could bring a barbeque and we could eat at the track while watching the race (best of both worlds). Pocono wouldn't be a real far drive but, may be good to gauge interest in something like this before committing to a 4 hour or so ride to either the Glen or Summit Point.

By the way..
I am having overboost problems now due to the Buschur TBE no cat I installed.
I am currently getting a new fuel pump and other items so I can get tuned.
I am a little nervous about driving the car on auto X on the 18th. If its warm I should be ok but if its cold I will have to pass. It has only happened when its very cold. I got a CEL and had the code read and it was something like P0123 or something like that and it said "Overboost Condition" I am not trying to break this engine with 1600 miles on it.
