we need to get a bar crawl together for "the gang".. Philly has way too many excellent bars with way too many excellent beers to not take advantage.. All we need to figure out is where to crash lol

Hey guys. So I finally picked up some audio stuff for my car, inlcuding the cutom enclosure like below. The problem is I'm not sure how to mount the thing to keep it from moving. I bought it from someone who had it mounted to a custom trunk floorboard. I dont want to do that as it will be difficult to remove on track days. I also dont want to just drill into the fiberglass w/o being sure its ok. Anyone have good ideas?

Get a few little L brackets with holes in them and screw it into the floor of the car. Thats what I did. It worked fine, although its a PITA to take it out and put it back in all time for autoxing. I just took mine out and left it out. Yeah the stereo sucks without it but its just easier that way.

There is no easy solution Chu. You want it to be stable when driving? Gotta screw it in brother, no way around it.

Try some velcro and go take a turn at high speed, let me know how that works out for you...

If you take out all the plastic and carpet you can rachet strap or bungee her down. Thats what I did after I bent (2) L brackets making a U turn.
I got rid of the sub so now the straps just hold the skateboard.

yeah chu i was going to suggest velco and a bungee cord. it won't be as good as screwing and perhaps a little more ghetto.

jeff, is all that seam sealer in your trunk from the factory? i haven't had mine apart to see if they are that generous with mine.

^ Now thats funny...

Marc,
Any word on the whip? Do we need to go have a little talk with the insurance agent on this one.

I spoke with Adam, I guess I need to get my ducks in a row and get my car over there so I can get it fixed. For those of you that don't know (as if you care), my #2sparkplug backed itself out and ate all the threads in doing so. Hence the rough idle and running funny. I think the tapping I heard was air escaping from the combustion chamber.
So do I do headstuds now since it will be off anyways? What do you guys think? Looks like I need to order some parts... RussellM I'll be in touch.

Yeah Pete, do it while you're at it. If the head gets pulled, you will need gskets anyways, might as well. ARPs are great, but if you have more cash, AMS makes a set thats 2x stronger, for double the price of course

I was at a buddies this weekend, he had an excellent kit for fixing those threads Pete..Came with a drill bit, a special tap, and special thread insert that have a knurling that gets expanded with a special tool to keep the thread insert in place.. He did the same thing on his 4g63 colt and said it worked like a charm..He did it all with the head on the car..
