Dan, I got you beat. My wifes ex boyfriend before me did time for impersonating a police officer. That was an unreal story to hear. He stalked her up until about a year ago (4 years of the crap) until I confronted him finally. She wouldn't let me get involved for the longest time. Now he's terrified of me and we haven't heard or seen him since. Good times.
Glad someone is getting a raise. I just started receiving normal pay after taking a 10% pay cut for a few months. I'm afraid to ask for anything more.

my wife's exboyfriend also couldn't let go. he used to drive past her house all the time. right before we got married he started calling her like 5 times a day but wouldn't say anything when she answered. i put her on my plan with a new number and she canceled the old one.

if a girl broke up with me and was seeing someone else, i'd be sure to move on and not do weird crap like that.

as far as the raise thing, well i wasn't going to ask for anything either because stuff has been so slow here and i feel overpaid already for the amount of work. so i was looking for a new job to get that salary increase but they just gave it to me. this is what jefferson does, they increase your pay until you're practically untouchable/unhireable by other health systems.

I think you've bought enough parts... time to start saving for a house and ring.
Now is the time Chu, doesn't get any easier to save money than living it home and working full time. Try doing it after you move out and are paying rent and all the other crap that goes along with living on your own.

raises and bonuses are great, chu. my wife got one right before we left for cancun. now we're both overpaid. she tried getting a job at paoli hospital but they said they won't be able to pay her what she is getting now. it has it's pluses and minuses. this means that i will never find a job in a suburban hospital and get paid what i need to be paid.

congrats to everyone (and their spouse) who's gotten an increase/promotion.

I wasn't going to say anything, but since we are all sharing stories... I too received a promotion last week. Weird we all got this info to share at the same time. Mine doesn't take effect until the first of the year, though. It will be a lot more work/responsability then my current position, but I'm very happy to be given the chance to show my stuff and even more happy the company recognized my hard work. If everything goes as discussed, in a couple years, when I have all this corporate financial stuff down, I will be the CFO of a $50m/year company. Not bad for a kid from philly with just a HS diploma. If someone would have told me last year at this time I would have this kind of oppertunity I would have laughed in their face like this guy --->

Congratulations Marc. That's good news. I think this is also showing that times are looking good finally......economy-wise that is.

I wasn't trying to boast earlier. The only people I can tell is my wife and you harmless bunch. I can't even tell my closest buddy at work. And my family doesn't needto know either. Just more fuel to the fire.

same here, I can't talk about it with anyone at work and I def. wasn't trying to brag and didn't want to come off that way. Especially to an MMA fighter such as yourself.

Chu, yes that $50 million, I never heard of a $50k/year company needing a CFO Don't get it twisted, thats not my salary (I freakin wish) , thats the revenue the company did last year. Hopefully we'll be above that in two more years when I take the chair.

Congrats to all you guys.

It can be hard to talk to some people about money, I know my wife's family is one of them. She came from NOTHING, so when they see or hear certain things they can get a little weird... Like she thinks she's better than them or something along those lines. Nothing wrong with wanting to make a better life for yourself, its a shame some people see it differently.

We had this kid years ago on a forum I modded that came up with this insane imaginary life. He had a hot girlfriend, nice cars, he was working toward a law degree, had a yacht, the list went on. He also made up stories just like that one and almost everyone but the staff bought into it for like a year. People treated him like royalty. It was ridiculous. Eventually another member went into private investigator mode and completely ripped it open. He dug up everything he could find, located some pics he posted as his own on other peoples websites, the cars he drove on some BMW forums etc. He ended being a kid who lived at home with his parents and dropped out of high school if I remember correctly. I'm always skeptical now if someone makes an obvious "look at what I've done for someone" claim. I wouldn't feel the need to tell everyone how awesome I am. There's a lot to be said for humility. But then again, maybe he's being honest and if that's the case then what he did for a friend is incredible.
I agree. These stories just don't make much sense sometimes. If you can afford a GT-R and all the other cars he has previously owned, couldn't you throw your friend some cash without selling it? Especially since he is saying he will just get another one next year. So clearly he has plenty of money....or so he says....

Unless he paid cash for the GT-R, how can he help out his friend and still get another $40K car?? AND if he paid cash for the GT-R, he has plenty of money, and shouldn't need to sell it to help his friend. I'm confused....
