I've tried using the anti-squeel stuff on the pads & pins but it only kept the noise down for a little while, then it came back. Maybe I didn't use enough of it, I dunno, but I;m not using it again. Funny thing is about 6 months ago i flipped my ds2500 pads from inside/outside the caliper to even the wear out and the noise has totally gone away.

I've just accepted the fact that if I run aggressive pads there is going to be SOME trade off. Whether that trade off is squeeking brakes, lots of dust or increase rotor wear, if you want good stopping power you're going to have to sacrafice something.

Another option I guess would be to swap pads out before an event, but then you run the risk of having deposits on the rotor and stuff...

oh yeah, by this time tomorrow I should be @ Thunderbolt blasting around woo hoo!

Cheak out racing brakes site. They have alot of good info there
I figured I would open that thread to see what kind of responses I got, which as you can see isn't much.

I may want to talk to him as well... I'll just pm him. Whats good prices Chu, I'm too lazy right now to look it up. Also, you just got brakes, you got some $ burning a whole in your pocket or something...

They work great but squeak alot sometimes. I can make it to work and back without them being noisy just some days are worse than others. I was making them pretty loud on Sunday with Pete, but I can deal with it. They work on the street, track, and autoX great.
Grease fire huh? Did you think you were gonna get them glowing red? Get those shims on there... that thing is hella loud.

You will be suprised when you see how hot they can get on the track. My wheel wells looked like my hoodvent after sitting in traffic in 90deg weather.

Not saying it couldn't happen... but you would have to use a lot of excess grease I would think. I don't think you would be that sloppy with it thats all.

Jeff what do you run, the ET700 on the front?

The other thing was the vent in the pad, I didnt want to grease it shut. I just wasnt sure so I didnt use any and it worked out fine. Deal with the squeal or dont use your brakes

Does anyone know the minimum rotor thickness specification for the OEM Brembo's.

I think that they may be 29.8mm (F) and 20mm (R).

Can anyone confirm this?

I know its clearly stamped on the rotor itself, you may be able to read it without even taking the wheel off.

I have a set of DBA 4000 front rotors that are for sale. They were used only for Autox, only time they have seen the street was when the car was road tuned. PM me if any of you want them, they are in perfect condition. Reason for me selling is I am putting my 2 piece DBA's back on the car. BSP rule changed to allow 2 piece rotors, so I already have them, mine as well use them. DBA 5000's are 3 lbs. per side weight savings over stock rotors.

As far as greasing goes I greased the **** out of the shims and back of pads as well as anything that was metal to metal contact. My Ferrodo's only squeak when they are cold initially, but were pretty quiet overall. I am still using the stock shims BTW, good thing I didn't throw them out first time changing pads on car. My personal experience with tracking car was the grease just burned off, it was a non issue for me. I was pretty brutal on the brakes BTW, so I definitely got them hot.

Racing Brake pads @ maperformance.com

ET300 - $89.99
ET500 - $112.99
ET700 - $167.99
ET800 - $199.99
ET900 - $234.99

According to the RB site, pads up to the ET800 are streetable.

Pete, I did recently do my brakes. But the Girodisc just aren't impressive at all as far as aggressiveness. I was used to the Axxis Ultimates, which I find is a great pad for the price. I'm just always interested in learning what is available on the market!

I'm suprised you didn't get the new Girodics "ultra-lite" rotors. They're the lightest 2 piece available on the market. I believe Baer was the lightest, but they're no longer available for the Evo platform.

I bought these 2 piece rotors a while back prior to running car in BSP. I think these were a good price versus the others that were available at the time. I am not sure if the Girodisc's were available back then. I am not replacing the DBA's at this point, they are lighter than stock so it will be a nice improvement for Autox.
