is it a joke that they're striking? i hope the union gets fired and they hire people struggling to get jobs.

oh and to top it off, the R5 caught fire this morning leaving hundreds stranded. when they sent buses out to get the people where they need to go, the picketers blocked the buses. i hope they get attacked by angry mobs soon.
I agree completely. The level of greed unions can possess is disgusting. How many people are completely unemployed right now and can't even get a job at mcdonalds and these guys are *****ing about their mid range pay. Now think of the people that need that bus to get to work. They're already in an economy where you have to work extra hard to maintain your job and you instantly have no means of transportation. Now half a dozen people who DO have transportation are able to have a shot at that position. I can't imagine how many are going to lose their jobs because of someone else's greed.

These unions operate in a world called fantasy land. They have huge pensions that private sector job people can only dream of, especially during these tough times. This Septa workers Union was given a take or leave it offer and they refused they don't want the city to mess with their Pension (which is 50% under funded) and they wanted to have picking rights (ability to pick their own equipment based on seniority - this is pure stupidity - how about based on performance? or cost savings? WTF?). The sooner the city declares bankruptcy (that will come sooner or later) and voids the union contracts the better it will be for the tax payer to drop the unsustainable Pension program and worthless Union workers. End Rant.

Gentlemen,

it has been brought to me attention that peterturbocharger is trying to talk about the special bison burger at the grey lodge in northeast philly as the greatest burger of all times.

this is simply not true.

chu, chau and the sandman, i know pete has brought you there, and i believe you when you say its good. but its simply not the best.

my i present to you the Royal Tavern, and its wold famous Royal Burger. it will bring tears to a grown man's eyes. its just that good. i have fantasies about it from Boston.

Angus Burger, bacon, caramelized onions, smoked gouda, pickled longhots and chile mayonnaise on seeded brioche bun. simple. delicious. perfect.

Royal Tavern. 937 E. Passyunk in south philly. do it.

i couldnt agree with you guys more. unions had their place 100 years ago when people were dying in factories. but pensions, and union worker rights are so out of alignment with the real world, that they are destroying companies. look at what unions have done to the auto industry. 1000s of each car goes towards pensions and health care. septa is no different. the sad part is its typically the union reps and not the underlings who are really to blame.

we have fought off unionization in our nursing homes for years. essentially the way the laws are written the unions can say and do whatever they like, and as a privately held business your hands are more or less tied in terms of fighting back.

awesome, its 8am and now I'm hungry for a burger...

oh yeah, I agree, unions suck, 100 years ago they were needed, but now, not so much. I used to work for a union construction company and it was a joke how lazy most of the works were. Not to mention their feeling of self entitlement just because they belonged to the union. the amount of money they made compared to the inferior quality of work they did was astounding. I know engineers with masters degrees who are out of work and can't put food on the table for their famlies while these lazy, over paid bastards who sit on their *** all day and push a button are *****ing about a raise. Then they have these radio adds saying that SEPTA is descriminating against them... what a bunch of BS. I say fire them all and de-unionize the whole ****ing system... Ahh, its too early for me to get on this crap.

I'm there. That Bison burger was damn good though... I hope Royal Tavern has alittle more diversity. Chau and I definitely stood out at the lodge!

i agree with everyone on this union crap. i despise the whole attitude that most americans have on the job of "i don't get paid enough to do this crap." I had a fellow coworker that was getting $80/hour say that to me a couple of months ago. it just made me think, how much do you have to be paid to do this crap? I can remember a time when 8-12 bucks/hour was an awesome job for me.

i don't mean to turn it racial topic or come off that way but the majority of the people in this city do, in fact, have this "sense of entitlement/lazy/race card pulling/don't bother me because i am moer important than you and you're a white racist" attitude just because they are restricted from getting or doing something that everyone else is restricted for getting or doing. it is really a shame that we have so many **** heads on our city/country. they and their children are ruining our culture.

Looks like we may not get too much of a crowd this Sunday. With nationals over, and some of the guys out of the running in the regional competition, I hope we get tons of runs in!
