Where would it be worth it to go for a tune in MA!!!
Wow I took the time to read all 5 pages and im surprized. Ive gone to DSG once (so far the only shop to touch my Evo) and everyone that worked there was knowledgable and friendly. Im sure stuff like this happens at every shop, some people have good experiences others may not. Either way the one time I took my Evo to them and they performed the work I wanted done rather quickly and without any problems and allowed me to stay there until it was done even though it was something simple. Just because of that ill be taking my Evo to them for pretty much everything and anything unless something big happens to my car or im not happy with what I paid for which is why I understand you no longer go there.

I can't believe people are docking them for working on jack stands. Does it really matter if they have a lift installed or not? It's a major expense that they invested in a dyno instead. Man, I wonder how shops of old ever worked without a lift.
I personally trust my life to DSG every time I ask them to go over my car before a race. I'm not by ANY means amazing racer, but I am not some wannabe or street kiddie like most of the crowd.
Avengerhed, it's pretty easy to drag a shop through the mud on the backs of "past customers" accounts. Why don't you let them come and post their experiences rather than speaking for them? It seems pretty gutless on your part. Dex, you're doing the same thing, but at least you have some personal experience. Why not tell us who has had a bad experience? Maybe it can be resolved.
I'm not arguing that people have had negative experiences, but I would really like to hear some first hand accounts rather than "Well my friend, who I won't name or who won't post themselves had a bad experience on which I won't elaborate on."
Grow up, guys.

I am not going to name names or post anything further i am just answering your question. Like i said before i think everyone should just walk away from this thread and let it go. Make your own decisions on who you choose to work on your car. If you choose to do research you will find information that you can personally decide to make assumptions based off of.

I am not going to speak for avengerhed but i will say i know everything he is referring to. We all enjoy the company of the DSG folks but we have all seen the good and the bad that has come out of their shop. People that have had bad experiences with them fear ruining relationships so will not speak badly against them. That is why they do not come and post.

Besides, the guys at DSG are big boys. If the illuminati crew really values relationships they'll grow some and be up front rather than trashing them behind their backs. I thought we did away with that in high school? I mean at least then the relationships can be salvaged, I wouldn't blame DSG for being pissed that someone wasn't honest.
Glad to see the direction this country is going.

If it is such a problem and such a big deal then why are they not posting? The problem is by saying something like this you are making this issue a bigger deal than it probably is in reality. How many people and what problems are usually left up to the readers interpretation, which will make it seem worse.

I love how all these threads turn into the same thing....I'm really glad I have the pea sized intelligence to do my own research and as a result am happy to call the whole DSG team friends and exceptional at what they do. Does that mean I don't believe those who have had "negative experiences" NO. But all I know is what I have personally gone through. I don't want to alienate those who have differing experiences, Nor do I want this to turn into a political right VS. left deal. You have very highly regarded people in the community and the racing community as a whole who will defend the work that DSG does. You have some well known North East members who for whatever reason were not satisfied with the work they had done. OK, That is what it is, I have not met a perfect business yet, No matter what amount of Dollars/prestige/Etc... they have, should have or claim to have.
I am not a frequent North East poster but I have spent too much time on this site and many hours/dollars with DSG over the course of the last 4 years, My experience is what it is and I am honest about it. I have much respect for the guys who have had different experiences and this won't change that. I just think it corteous to encourage newb's to make their own EDUCATED decisions. You can't find every answer on the internet. Let's hope we can all get along after this.
DSG... You have a customer as long as I'm mobile, 2 wheels or 4
Avenger/Dex/TurboMeg, You all seem like intelligent Evo guys and I respect what you all bring to the community and to what used to be a very quiet NE section. Nobody likes having any type of deal leave a sour taste and I understand that, I just don't ever want one side of a story told.
Hope to catch up with you all soon if I can ever get enough cash to get my Evo back on the road and to a meet.

If everyone with these problems approached us we would have made them disappear. That's the best part. People leave here saying that they're happy and weeks later we hear this BS through a friend. My one request from people would be to sack up and call us. 100% of the time we take care of it.
Let it be known also that no shop is without problems and occasional issues. Especially shops that work on a huge range of cars. We have 5 cars a day in here and over 5 years we have 3 or 4 vocal evo owners who are disappointed. If we were an airline we'd be the safest in the air.
One of the posters here and our shop reached an agreement over the bill when he left, and now suddenly we're ripping him off. If it was a ripoff how did he let it happen?
This goes for everyone. It's disgraceful, gutless.

Sure enough - the solenoid was broken and you guys didn't hook up the bleeder line, because there was no where to hook it up, and now its bleeding to atm. You can imagine how livid i was that you gave the car back to me like this. I'm still not sure what you guys did to make it boost 4psi lower - adjust my WG preload? I'll figure it out one way or another.
I called you personally and asked for an update, and you said you would have nick call me back the next day. No one called me friday or saturday.
Breaking my stuff and then not disclosing it, is whats disgraceful and gutless. Why don't you sack up, admit that you broke it, and then gave me the car back as if it was running fine. And then after that, you can apologize.
to be fair though - Maybe you really thought that it was running fine. *shrugs* You also did imply that you would fix it, and take some fluids charges off my bill.
Stuff brakes all the time when working on cars I can't really fault you for it - but it would be nice to expect disclosure. I just don't trust you guys to fix my stuff anymore.
un-tightened retainer clip, scratched door, un-tightened negative battery terminal. boost leak at 6krpm, IC pipe popped off, Exhaust leak, drilled and zip-tied lip, and a smashed stock BCS - all contribute to my negative experiences with only 2 clutch jobs. With the money i pay you guys to put them in - I am better off taking a day off from work and doing it myself.
I've gotten my honda back from another shop with an ignition harness fixed with twist splices and electrical tape. - so needless to say i don't trust any shop anymore.
edit: I really wish DSGs dissatisfied customers were a little more vocal. Most of us are really reluctant to speak up.

The OP was asking where to go for a tune in MA, and DSG is THE best place bottom line. If any of you have a problem, you should call Alex, he gave out his number. The shop is where these problems can be rectified, not here on the forum where nothing further can be done. These are the first 3 complaints I've heard or read about, DSG has an excellent track record, no pun intended.

I am not going to add fuel to this blazing fire, but I would like to add my .02cents since I have experienced a vast number of tuners/performance shops etc.
First off, I think the back and forth of which shop is better will never end, doesnt have to be DSG and Ivey. It can be Buschur vs AMS vs TTP vs DTM vs whomever You guys going back and forth will not get much accomplished at all!!
my point is, there will always be people who like certain places and then there will be the others that have a bad experience and go to another shop to fix that problem.
What I have learned from seeing this countless times is, if the shop is a reputable shop, dont burn bridges and just leave them, they will most likely fix the problem if you just speak up.
Now far as I am concerned the guys at DSG are standup guys. they seems to do very good work on any of the projects that I have seen there. them doing the work on the jack stands to me is unbelievable!! I couldnt imagine doing that, but I give them much credit for that.
Concerning Ivey, I think there is almost no one that can't say he is one of the best tuners in the evo market across the country let alone in new england. If you want the best tune he is the way to go, but it will obviously cost a bit more as well, travel expenses and tune vs a local tune.
Good luck in your choice

1st tuned Ecuflash at DSG, made 345whp w/stock turbo. car runs better than before (of course), but when later i pull the map out, it look very funny.
2nd time, i installed HKS 3037 w/750cc injector and more upgrades. DSG tuned my car and it made 330whp (spend more than 8000 bucks and lose 15 whp?) and the car dies out all the time. DSG still charge me full price which i don't really think they should... (i will never go back to them)
same setup, i bring to one of my friend -- De, he tuned to 370whp at TDC's dyno in NH. (DSG really know what they doing?)
but after few month i can't stand the lag, so i took away 3037 and put a FP Green, this time i also added F-conVpro Stand alone, and drive all the way up to NJ, Sean at Ivey tuned the car, and yes, that's what real tunning should feels like. car runs so smooth and powerful, get 388whp.
really want to step up the game? get a FconVpro and drive to Ivey.
just have few bolt ons, then u can stay with DSG's rookies.....
