he asked me, so hows that thing do in the snow? i said does really well if you want ill take you for a ride during lunch, and from there on it was history lol. drove by the lake and there was alot of area of packed snow so went to town lol
I almost hit a tree in my truck coming back from lunch with a co-worker... if I was in the EVO that never would have happened. Damn trucks and their horrible weight distribution. Not blaming the truck as it was clearly my fault. I just needed an excuse.
I made a right turn onto a snow covered road and made the mistake of lifting off the gas while the wheel was still turned. Ok, it wasn't a mistake, I intended to do it, I just wasn't prepared for the pendulum effect it created and how uncontrollable it would be. We swung left and I (over)corrected, we swung right and again I (over)corrected... this happened a couple more times until I finally went on the brakes and straightened the wheel out to come to a slow, sliding stop in a snow bank about 2' from an oak tree. Thankful that snow bank was there, lol. It really felt like the car was being driven by someone else. I've never had the feeling of being totally out of control like I just did... even when I was driving Chu's car it wasn't that bad. very unnerving. The whole time I was looking for the clutch and trying to go 'two feet in'.

^reason #346 why i hate the snow.
that's why i am such a ***** when it snows. i drive slowly and refuse to snow drift in the evo because if something went wrong, i'd look like a total douchenozzle.
not saying you're a douchnozzle as it was just accidental on your part.

^ subtle: you are a douch post.
I try and learn something from all my mistakes and what I am taking away from this one is that I shouldn't think I can drive every car like I do the EVO. I really think if I was in teh EVO, or at least had the truck in 4wd, it would have been a non issue. The front tires would/should have pulled me forward was I started to unwind the wheel and roll into the gas. With the RWD it just made the throttle-lift oversteer worse as I went back to the gas and over corrected.
The EVO is such an easy car to drive that it inspires almost too much confidence.

This being my first winter with my evo im still trying to get used to it esp. with all seasons. Seems like its got a mind of its own in the snow. Hopefully auto x will hone my driving for the evo

after my car got hit, i've been a ***** in high risk situations. i don't want to deal with it again or potentially have something worse happen to it.
watch me start it up tomorrow and ***** around the block with it and blow the motor

i hate my all seasons. i tried unloading them on a few people to offset the cost of buying snow tires. looks like this summer i'm going to have to man up and buy some on closeout.
i'm interested to see how much better an experience driving in the snow is. right now the corolla is a safer option being wrong wheel drive.
with no grip and awd in the snow i'm lucky if the thing will move in a straight line from a stop.
