Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
I hear ya Marc, getting beat by Captain Hook's 1 1/2 hands is a wake up call! Don't feel bad, Simmonz beat me every event except the last one we ran at the Meadowlands last year, this just happened once. If he would have gotten his last runs he probably would have pulled it out, but my point is I know what you mean. The whole point of driving with a Chase or Simmonz is to improve your game, be humble and adsorb their techniques like a sponge. Chase is a natural and learned alot from Philly region, he has certainly upped his game over the last 2 years.
Went to Adams last night and tried to help him wrestle that 6 speed trans back into car. What a PIA. My back and shoulders are hurting now, thing is heavy! I could not get it, he finessed it in eventually but it fought for a good hour. I did manage to change front and rear diff fluid on my own, I hate the smell of that ish.
All thats left for tonight is drivers side axle, down pipe, swap some bushing on rsb, spark plugs, put some oil in ACD and engine. Car will have all new front bushings but will have wasted ball joints still, could not solve that problem. Someone needs to start making the replacement BJ's on Evo, there are 8 total front and back on an Evo, it would be nice to replace all of them without having to buy control/trailing arms I do not need.
I will align over the next few days. I like just taking it real slow, it is definitely a requirement for me since I am still not that fluent doing this myself. I got it right last year so I am sure I can get it again. Plan on raising front end a little, shouldn't have to mess with the rear of the car, just the front.
How do you break in an Exedy twin clutch in a car that is not driven on the street?
There is no way I am getting 500 miles on it, I would be happy to get a 100 on the clutch prior to thrashing it, but that is even unlucky. Any suggestions?

pax is a multiplier applied to each class that lets you compare times from different classes. Its a good gauge of how well you drove compared to everyone else there that day.
so for example, when you have a corvette running in SS, the PAX multiplier will be higher than a civic running in DS because the civic is going to have a slower RAW time. basically the faster the car/class the higher the pax multiplier.
the way it gets screwed up is when you have someone like Pete/Chu who are running street tires in a R-comp class. the R-comp class will have a higher pax multiplier but because you're on street tires your raw time will suck, so when you look at pax it seems like you REALLY suck, but in reality you just have an under-prepped car for the class.

I have the whiteline kit sitting around, you can certainly have my stock ball joints, assuming they aren't destroyed during removal and aren't worn out already.
I wasn't planning to install for 2-3 weeks. PM me if you are interested, maybe we can work something out.

MIke, I drove for about 1k miles on the street before I started to rip on the exedy twin. I did this for the original and the rebuild when that went in and its served me well. I have about 85k miles +/- between the two clutches and everything is holding up great. I know its a pain in the *** but I would do it because its easier and cheaper to drive around for 1k miles than it is to replace your clutch every year or sooner...

PAX is a way to handicap all the different car classes that run Solo. Basically its an math equation used to make each class theoretically on the same playing field. PAX was just changed for alot of classes this year, the SCCA takes data from across the country and uses that to try and establish fair PAX #'s. If you look at the PAX results, you will see a decimal #, for BSP its .855. You multiply that and your best time of the day to figure out your PAX time.
See above, they beat me to the explanation..

Speaking of which I want to vinyl my car a different color. The only person I know with a vinyl machine is not going to help me or I should say I feel funny asking him.
call exedy and see what they say but I'm pretty sure its going to be that you need to break in the discs. I used to drag race a lot and the same held true in that platform. the only way to get around it was to use a metallic compound disc like copper that doesn't require any bedding. Not sure how carbon/kevlar works as I've never used those compounds before.
My car is not inspected so it is kind of difficult to cruise it around and not draw attention to myself. If it didn't have #'s and the stupid stripe then maybe. What do the track only drag race guys do when they build their clutches and motors? I think I need to call Exedy and see if they have a suggestion.

***** pink vinyl FTW!
you could break in the clutch on a dyno.
Mike, a lot of the drag racing clutches like ACT have a no break-in requirement from what I've read.
Jim (chu's mom) was running 10s in the 1/4 the day offer he installed his exedy twin disc. He said it made a lot of noise as he got more use out of it.
Breaking the twin disc in really makes a difference. I feels completely different after a few hundred miles and after about 1000 miles it really grabs more.
I'd be interested to see wha exedy says. You can't be the only one who runs a serious clutch like that on a non street driven car.

quiet in here today...
In other news my wife just called me and said she saw my neighbor (a married stay at home mom with a 3yr old) out with some dude who isn't her husband and there were having an intimate conversation/meal together. She said when she went up to say hi that she was shocked and it seemed like she wasn't expecting to see anyone she knew. My wife said she was nervous as hell and tried to end the conversation and GTFO there, lol. she is convinced that shes cheating on her husband as she's seen this dude come around the house before when the husband wasn't around. I've actually seen him waiting down the street in his car for the husband to leave and my wife also said she's seen him drive by the house several times a week but not stop. Nothing like a little neighborhood drama.
I'm not going to say anything to the husband cause its not my bid-ness, but I think its funny that she's more than likely sneaking around on her man. the other funny thing is that she used to be a stripped @ Suzies lounge on 309... if you know the area you know that place isn't the cream of the crop when it comes to dancers. I heard they had a prego midget dancing on stage one weekday, lol.
