Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
I have it good though. I have a track 15 min away. If I show up at the right time, I can get 3-4 runs in an hour and a half and then head home.
Maybe it's the suck in me, but I've had this car down the track 25+ times, and still don't have the best time out of it. I find it challenging to try and go for that "perfect" run. When I finally get it, I might not be as eager to keep running, but right now it's a challenge. It's certainly not as easy as some people think.
Whats your best time so far? My best was my first time out with it at 12.2 and the second time is when the bottom end decided to spin the bearing at a 12.3. I would like to see an 11 sec pass out of it. Auto cross is so much more fun than drag racing for me now.
To me, the autox is not much fun.. I think its because speeds are too slow, you typically stay in one gear, and you never really reach speeds fast enough to get into trouble.. There just isn't a thrill for me.. Doing a time trial on a real track instead of a parking lot seems like something I could get into though.

I'd like to start bashing you with incoherent blabber, but you make some good points. I was stuck waiting in line almost 2 hours to run one last time a few weeks ago. 2 break downs on the track. But I already had 4 runs in by that time, so I wasn't too upset about the night.

Have you played with tire pressures and stationary rev limit at all? Those kind of need to be adjusted according to conditions.
It took me quite a bit of practice to get into the 11's in the 6 speed.. Best time was 11.8@116 on the stock turbo on 93, accompanied by dozens of 12.0@114-115..

After many of runs I've finally gotten my tire pressure at a good point. I am down around 18psi with a 6k stat rev limit. That might be a bit high as I usually spin, but I am starting to get consistent anyway. I pulled a 1.7 60' last time out which is good. That run did a 12.8 @ 107mph, but could of had better shifting.
My best is a 12.7. I think I can get another tenth or two out of it. Then that will be about it for my ability at this power level.

what I love about the EVO is that you can do all three forms of racing; drag, autox & road race while still hauling kids in the backseat during a snow storm. we just need to mix target shooting, drinking and dead hookers into motorsports and we'll have all the bases covered.
Those are some good times. The 6 speed is great for getting low 12's, but tough to get into 11's because you run out of 4th.
^it must be those brakes.
I agree about drag racing being repetitive. I did it for far too long. after a while you're spending thousands upon thousands of dollars to chase 1/10th's of a second. not worth it IMO, but I do find it to be a nice break from the norm once or twice per year.
