By the way, just wanted to say it was good seeing everyone at the meet again last night. The "cruise" afterward made it even better. We need to do more of that again in the spring.
Bleh. Faust is no Clarkson. I have a feeling its going to be worse than Australian Top Gear.

no one is clarkson.
i'm going to give it a chance though. i doubt it will ever be as good as regular top gear, but it may be watchable.
well from the previews i have seen it looks like one of the big segments on the first show is going to be an evo X racing some skiers. so that should at least be interesting.
really though i don't think there is any way you could ever replicate the dynamic that may/hampster/clarkson have. that's really what makes that show great.

Looks like the GT5 release has been moved to Nov 24th.

eh i'm like 10 minutes in to the first mission and already not impressed.
shockingly i've already had to drive something. what is it with treyarch and making you drive stuff?
also, is this ice cube i keep hearing yelling at me?

hey guys I went to terrys auto sales out in somerset to check out an 05 white evo 8, mods are fp red, hks 272 cams and gears, heavier then stock clutch, precision 1320 injectors, and bolt ons. you guys ever heard of this dealership or this car? Im leary because its modded, i test droved it and on 15 psi it pulls like a freight train, he didt have to boost turned up cause its not tuned. he told me it was a nonpayment repo, and the turn that was on there was stolen. it has a clean title and 35k miles on the clock. He wants 17k
it's hard to say if that car belongs to a local or not. there was a white viii around here a while ago that belonged to a member, but it did not have an fp red.
that could have easily been added later though. he did have cams, a twin disk, and a bunch of other mods on it. what kind of exhaust did it have?
i would be leery about buying an evo that was that heavily modded. if i were you i would be looking for as stock an evo as possible.
any other details about the car?

the twin disks i have driven usually do not have a much heavier pedal feel than the stock clutch. they take a lot more feathering to make them move, but usually rather light on feel.
the single organic disks and the 4/6 puck clutches are usually heavier.
i don't think that car was one the guy's here old one. his had a jun bl exhaust i believe.

I'm kind of the opposite Mondo. 1.) How many cars are actually still stock? 2.) If they are selling it as stock, it probably was put back which I would be even more worried if they didn't do it right. 3.) If modded properly using quality parts and was tuned properly, it should be perfectly safe. 4.) A properly modded car will save you a TON of money down the road vs doing it yourself.
yes and no. if it's light bolt ons and things of that nature then i agree with you 100%.
it makes me nervous though when you start getting in to a car that has cams and a different turbo. those are kinds of mods i would prefer to do myself. obviously you get no warranty with it, and who knows how well the thing was put together, cared for, or if it was ridden hard and put away wet every day of its life.
the other thing that makes me nervous about that particular vehicle is him stating that it is only running at 15psi because it's not tuned. well why the hell wasn't it tuned? that's no bueno right there. it may be the case that he had the turbo put on and the next day it was repoed, or it could be that he drove it around untuned with an fp red for 3 months before it was reclaimed.
i don't know.
-edit-
it also depends on your intended purpose for the car. if it's going to be a racer and you have some money set aside in case the engine or tranny grenades, then who cares. go for it.
but if you want to use it as an every day car, i might look around elsewhere for another one.

ugh I see what your saying, it will be my dd, so im looking for something dependable, the reason its untuned, this is what he told me, when the guy heard the car was getting repoed he took everything from the turbo mani back off, leaving no turbo exhaust etc. I know the right thing to do is to get a lightly modded or stock evo, but its just like my car, it was on a small blower pulley, 100% methanol, ported head, big injectors, etc. but now its back to stock for trade in, nobody any the wiser. Im really conflicted
