Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
well if you know what to look for you can usually spot bolts that have been removed/changed. spots on the hardware mounting points that have been disturbed, certain parts that look newer/less worn than others. things of that nature.
i'm not saying that you outright absolutely shouldn't buy it, but i would be wary of something like this. other things that come to mind are stuff like if he didn't have enough money to make the payment did he have enough money for to maintain it? did he have $50+ to drop on oil changes every 3k miles he should have, etc...
keep it in mind, but look around for some others. maybe even give baierl a call. they do a lot of sales/work with the evos and they may have something you might be interested in.

is that the dealer in the north hills? i went up there and asked them about one, and they gave me the cold shoulder, dealer told me we get one in every once in a while but thats it, your better off buying from a private seller
Bottom line. Get the car checked by someone who knows what they are looking at. The car could be fine. Or it could turn into a major money pit.......the evo 8. Have way less potential than a evo 9. There is a silver 2004 for sale locally.
the MIVEC helps a decent bit with spool up and power band on the turbo. at least for stock cams. i can't comment about aftermarket ones.
the stock turbo is better, larger on the IX than on the VIII.
depending on what year VIII you are talking about the 05 and 06 evos (last year of the VIII and only year of the IX respectively) have better differentials than the 03/04 evos did.
i've owned both an 05 VIII and my current 06 IX and i can say hands down i prefer my IX.

just keep checking auto trader - your bound to find something, evos seem to be up for sale monthly.....Also check the for sale section here as well, my friend bought a really nice 2004 not to long ago for a good price, but he had to travel some to get it.
hey guys I went to terrys auto sales out in somerset to check out an 05 white evo 8, mods are fp red, hks 272 cams and gears, heavier then stock clutch, precision 1320 injectors, and bolt ons. you guys ever heard of this dealership or this car? Im leary because its modded, i test droved it and on 15 psi it pulls like a freight train, he didt have to boost turned up cause its not tuned. he told me it was a nonpayment repo, and the turn that was on there was stolen. it has a clean title and 35k miles on the clock. He wants 17k

Twin disks are generally the same pedal effort as stock. That car likely has an aftermarket single disk.
Already have. Curt was kind enough to get me the parts, but the base is cracked too much and the cables are stretched. Though if you saw the car in question, you'd be surprised anything survived.
