Got a call from my insurance agent yesterday. Kinda giving me a heads-up. Apparently the evo has been reassessed and given a new insurance rating. What all that means to me, is about a $350 increase in my premium.

This may also lead to more used evos on the market, and staying on the market longer. I don't know if any of you guys have seen this yet, but it might be just around the corner.

My insurance company is an independent so they shop around for the best rates. She said she would look around to see if what she can do about my premiums, but across the board, the evo is going to cost more to insure.

No surprise there. Though EVO rates were already quite high.

Could just be the EVO X. Apparently some people were banging them up on race tracks and trying to get insurance to fix it.

You could be right about that. I know I consider my X a "rescue car". I saved it like it was an abused dog that needed a good home. Some of the possible reasons given for the increase was cost and scarcity of replacement parts. Not sure if that's just a typical answer or the real cause.

Throughout the course of owning both of my Evo's, every time a renewal period came up, my rates would increase for no reason. When i questioned it, they always told me that the Evo is one of the most expensive cars to insure, they are always reassessing it blah blah blah..... That was from 2 different insurance companies none the less....

Any excuse they can find to raise your rates. Even if you parked the car 11 months out of the year, they'd still raise your rates.

It pays to shop around every year. I cut mine in half by switching last year. I'll do the same again next year. Our total insurance costs went from over 3 grand a year to 1700 bucks with the same coverages.

I think buying from a smaller PA based underwriter helped a lot. Pennsylvania is pretty much drama free. Take advantage of it. Not to high crime and we never have big disasters like hurricanes, giant fires etc. By keeping state farm I was subsidizing people who had their evos stolen every week in border states and hurricanes that blow peoples houses over every 4 years. F-that.

Hey everyone! its been awhile. the evo has been down with clutch issues and I finally got her up and running with a tune just in time for the snow. She is sitting at 482 whp 391tq on pump gas.

in response to the insurance posts. I have gone through american federated in monroeville (located in the jonnet building) i pay 95.35 a month for full coverage but my collision deductible is 1,000. The ins company is infinity. Just thought i'd throw that this in there and maybe it can help some people lower their ins.

last. I was out on 910/Freeport road last night (11/30) around 8pm and there was a white wingless evo heading towards the springdale area. I tried to get their attention but being it was so freaking rainy i was out of luck. If this person is on here or someone knows who they are please let me know. I live in the fox chapel area and always looking for evo guys to meet up with.

The only thing I fear about smaller companies is that when the time comes to pay up they won't pay.

Pojo, I think alot of us are in $50 a month range for full coverage with lower deductables.

I've used State farm since I met my wife. I've always been pretty happy with their rates. The EVO went up about $200 a year a few years back. Not sure why but, it's since come back down. In fact all my cars are within about $120 a year of each other. My BMW is more expensive then the Evo.

I have never had my car insurance drop on any vehicle ive ever owned. Unless i switched companies. I've had SF, Allstate, Nationwide ect.... No accidents and no tickets.....or at least none that affect the insurance rates...
