First rule of being a bystander of dog's fighting: Never get in between fighting dogs.

If you have a tazer and zap one of the dogs the other one(s) will continue to attack the stunned one. Not to mention tazers can be fatal to dogs...figure a tazer is intended for someone 150+lbs and most dogs are only 60-100lbs.

Your best bet is a pepper spray, as in pepper spray intended for dogs (full strength pepper spray designed to be used on humans can be fatal for dogs) and spray the dogs...again, you need to get both/all dogs in order for it to be effective. Or, equally effective for dogs: Citronella spray...they hate that stuff and it is not nearly as toxic to you, bystanders, or the dogs.

James, I think you should just jump in and wrestle the dogs into submission. Or follow JS's advise...

Distract them? Maybe. Return them to a submissive state? Not likely. If all of the dogs are on leashes and able to be separated then the horn could be enough to pull them apart. If, like in the situation James described, the dogs are loose and you have to go in and grab a collar or scruff? Screw that. I want pepper/citronella or...just occurred to me....a dog whistle...or high pitch noise generator.

There are several noise maker apps for smart phones, though I doubt you could put enough volume for it to be effective especially since the phone's speaker likely doesn't have enough frequency range to be useful.

good point- pepper spray may be an option.

citronella is annoying but I don't think it will stop a dog in attack mode. (i use it sometimes to control barking lol)

if you've ever see a real dog fight you'll realize humans do not move and react as fast as dogs do.

I thought you guys were into guns? Why not just shoot all three dogs, they obviously all need to be out down or have owners that didn't train them.

I know if a dog was attacking my moms new dog (a tiny defenseless dog) I would have no problem beating the **** out of another dog with a bat or tazer or weapon of choice. ***c other people's dogs who aren't trained properly.

No offense to dog owners.

I should clarify my neighbors dog was attacked, he is not aggressive at all-
he was attacked by two dogs who were off leash.

also if you swung a bat- they way the dogs move, most likely you may even hit your own dog.

I've had shop dogs/guard dogs my whole life. Seen a few good fights, none were broken up with pepper spray, citronella, guns or horns.

When dogs are resisted in a fight they are stimulated to fight even hard.

James, you're a large Asian man. If I were a dog of any size I'd be running away with my tail between my legs at just the site of you looking hungry.

Back to my vacation.

Good point about your neighbors dog. Maybe like a BB gun or something. If your a crack shot (subtle back to the future reference) maybe you could pop off a few rounds into the attacking dogs.
