Remember when we would all get on to this forums to set up meets at hooters or somewhere? Lets get back to that.

you build a car for a class and you compete with cars in that class, you don't compare you times against cars in other class. build a miata to run in DS and compete against Evo in ASP because you can use PAX handicap.
Keep in mind that SCCA puts on the worlds largest motorsports event. Where else do you get 1200 drivers in about 50 classes? Your example of handicap based on money is retarded. That's like Mike and I getting a PAX bump because the GTR in our class spent more on his trans and diffs than my entire car is worth. That's not the same as comparing cars built to different rule sets.

PAX is also used to combine cars into bump classes so that they minimize classes of one or two cars. That allows more competitors to be contingency eligible, because they can be over the min driver count.

50+ classes is retarded. Why have so many classes? Any other professional motorsports series that have that many classes? Like I said, you should compete in your own class, not across classes with a handicap system. Its like GT3 competing with LMP1 using pax.

If they have less classes to begin with, then they wouldn't have to worry about one or two people showing up per class.

I think the NASA classification system is the best out. It allows the flexibility of modifying your car the way you want with the budget you have. And you can have different platform in a same class depending on the modifications. The system is design to equalize the cars and showcase the drivers. I think it has some kinks but its the best system out for amateur racing.

I've been told that scca pdx (time trial) has a similar classification system as NASA. Not sure who coppied who but NASA hasn't been around long.

Dude, stick to the track stuff, you really don't understand autocross. They try and keep it open to as many as possible. There are autox's everywhere, if you compare quantity of autox events to track events it is not even close. Autox is king and thats why we have so many classes at Nationals and Pro championship. 1200 people competing at one event is totally cool. If you do not think so then thats your problem.

^ oh, I understand autox, been doing it for 8 years son. But I have moved on. If you fools are too skurd to do track, then that's your problem

Everything in autox is try to accommodate one or two people. That's why there's so many classes.

Don't buy their HDMI switch- that is the most recent purchase I bought and it sucked like all the other ones I've owned.

There's no way that 2 days with TD will cost that much... I think they usually charge $385 for two day events.

That depends on which track. Different track have different cost to rent.

I think Pete is right about the cost of TD at VIR. That's what I remember from this past year.
