Just get the Roku HD for $75. You can stream Net Flix, YouTube and a bunch of other stuff.

I have all Android in my house. Never tried any Apple products. I like to change stuff to my liking, can't do that with Apple.

i got my dad a Netgear NeoTV. it was the only one that i can find with a QWERTY keyboard remote. i hate trying to type with a D-pad. there's also apps for android or iphone to use as remote, not that he has a smart phone to use anyways.

35 feet HDMI cable from PC to TV with Lenovo multimedia keyboard. Problem solved.

The PS3 also has similar features.

that's if you have a PC in the same room as your TV.

i use my PS3 for media center also. these apple fools don't know how to use anything else other than apple products. too bad apple doesn't make a game console for them, but that would be too complicated for them to figure out. get back at meh kid.

They did make a gaming console. It failed miserably.

I have very minimal needs from my computer stuff. All I do is visit websites, stream music and movies. Nothing else. My laptop was under $300 brand new and meets all of my needs. The only other thing I'd need out of a laptop is storage space since I can't store more than 32 gigs on my iPhone.

I have a good 4I/1O HDMI switch that I had been using for the last year...I no longer need it thanks to a new AVR with 8I/2O. Let me know if you want it, Aaron.

The Apple TV is going to simplify this?

What AVR did you go with? I'm looking to upgrade my Onkyo which is 3 years old and get something else.

I have two onkyos and they both have problems so I'm thinking Marantz, Denon, or Yamaha.

not sure about pioneer yet

Putting a desk in the back corner of the basement room. Already have an HDMI jack on the wall, so I can plug in my laptop any time.

boom!

test the HDMI cables- long runs cause handshake issues (for me at least it did)

I had to re run higher end cables which did the trick (blue jeans cable)
