Everything in autox is try to accommodate one or two people. That's why there's so many classes.

Translation: I tried for 8 years and sucked at it, so I picked a different motorsport.

Let's do a little math. 1200 drivers / 55 classes = 21.8 drivers per class on average. Your argument of accommodating one or two people is a little flawed Also to be clear, the only time there are trophies/contingency given using the PAX system is in Pro Solo, where the entries are limited to 250 drivers. If in that 250 there is not enough to make a class, they move to a bump class based on the index. They also do indexed ladies classes for a similar reason.

I'm pretty much locked in at this point. I'm doing an in wall tv, so that it does not stick out too far after mounting bracket, etc. I ran a single HDMI, a usb, and soon a extension for my Wii U led bar to the TV from my media cabinet area. I plan to run everything through the receiver and use that as the main HDMI switch. I've also prewired the room for a 7.1 system, with sub in one corner (powered floor standing unit) and the rest of the speakers in wall.

I have not bought any of the electronics or speakers yet, so I'm open to suggestions on those. I'm not going high dollar on that stuff. I have an el cheapo sony 5.1 system upstairs (about 10 years old at this point) and it fits my needs for movie watching. I figure it won't take much to improve over that and make me happy. TV will be a 60" LED or similar sized unit. I looked at the specs on a few TV's when I sized the wall inset.

Actually... does anyone have experience with 3D tvs? My current thought is they are not worth it, but I've never been a cutting edge TV frills guy. The only other TV in the house is an 8 year old 60" LED projection TV, lol.

I bought these recently to replace my 40 lbs floorstanding speakers for child safety reasons.
Amazon Amazon

originally they were $2,000 speaker system and you can buy it for $400 and spend another $150 on another set of dipole/bipoles
Amazon Amazon

the fact that you can tweak these to sound "right" for your room is what sold me. I have had many compliments so far on the setup. If you are in philly you can check them out sometime.

also for sub I would reccomend BIC America F12- it is THICK. SOLID. TIGHT

Are you inset (aka flushmounting) the TV? have you thought about cooling the TV (60"+ will generate alot of heat)

I'm leaving a 3" gap around the boarder, and the screen won't be quite flush
With the wall. I just want all the mounting hardware and cables hidden when you look down the wall, since the door into the room looks down that wall.

Thanks for the links!

I never took autox as serious as you fools, never had the intention of going to national level. Doesn't mean I sucked at it. I won regional champ several years, but that doesn't say much unless you do national events.

That 1200 drivers event only happens once a year, not at every local or national tour. So regionally, you still have plenty of classes with one or two cars.

Autox is a good gateway into motorsports but any real motorsports enthusiast would eventually move to track if they have the means. The one thing that turned me off the most about autox is the limited seat time. Spend half day or whole day for 5 minutes of seat time. Its an intense 5 minutes but its over too quickly. Also, there's no danger factor. Danger is what keeps you on edge of the seat and a sense of excitement, its something that track offer but autox doesn't. When I come in to pit and my hands shakes becaue I just drove a shession at 9/10th on edge at 145 mph, I don't get that sensation or excitement at autox.

If someday when I don't have the means to track anymore, then I would probably get back to more autox.
