I would love to buy something cheap when he's 12-13 and spend a few years replacing errthing and getting it safe for him for when he's old enough to drive. In reality, it would be something simpler than a computerized German car.
By the time that comes the BRZ or FRS will be the new miata and a car to fix up much like e30s and e36s are now. If people can even find an e30 worth fixing up in 13 years god bless them

Less in the summer, equal or more in the winter [than 93]. More power, better mileage, lasts longer. Easier to tune, less volatile and the list goes on. After having diesel, it's hard to go to gasoline. If they mainstream high revving diesels, we might actually catch on in this country.

Maybe Dan will buy my POS in 10 years. It would be 20 years old, a real fixer upper, at a cheap price.

I'm hoping VW's CrossBlue becomes a reality... I might give my wife the v10 which has been nothing short of awesome and try out the diesel hybrid. Intuitively it makes sense, we'll see what reality brings!

I don't know much about what VW/Audi is doing with diesel tech, but I know I'd much rather go to a diesel than a hybrid.

Anyone interested in investing into the TST Spring meet sponsor booth?

It's $400 and we get a name on all the Flyers and Ads
we get space to set up a tent and do whatever we want (legally)

We could make up a funny name and have it show up on all flyers like "Dan Kelly's Pecs are bigger than my wife's motorsports" and have a tent with a couch and tv

I've been told by some buddies on the manufacturing side that there's a race to figure out how to make a dual purpose alternator/motor enabling auto shut off/auto turn on with electric assist to 10mph. VW took it a step further by triple complicating things like they always do by having 3 motors (1 diesel/2 electric) in what looks to be a 2014. I don't think it will be too long before we start seeing the American cars/trucks have electric assist start by way of a new alternator/motor in order to meet the 2025 EPA guidelines.

I have a back up plan in situations like that. I hated everything my dad liked. I plan to get him interested early like now.

That's a good idea. I doubt I'll be very competitive anyway, but it's all about getting out there and getting more experience right now. Even so, I'll only be able to make it to the WFC events since I don't get off work until 8:00 AM.
