does anyone that lives in the NE region know of any good road or rally racing schools? i dunno how skip barber is, and i don't know of many others. bondurant is far away, i know a family friend that went there and liked it, but like i said, it's far. any at lime rock park? i'm interested in getting involved in SCCA possibly, if they have any events close by at englishtown or in PA, so i was looking to possibly get some instruction before i went racing. i'm kind of new to this, and i'm probably younger than everyone else involved (18 is old enough, right?) but i would like to get involved, as i realize racing on the streets is dangerous, and it's not really fun when you have to look out for cops constantly. my car should be alright for the time being, it has light mods like suspension, tires, intake, etc.
anyway, anyone have any personal experiences with any schools? and can anyone help me in getting involved with the local SCCA chapter? i live in morris plains, if anyone lives around here and wants to help out... or let me drive your evo
... nah j/k i know no one would let me do that lol but maybe you can tell me about local meets and stuff too.
thanks
andrew

There are many different schools, I think Autoweek should have a list of schools.
Some of them are:
Skip Barber in Conn. (Road Racing)
Tim O'Neil in Vermont (Rally)
Bertil Roos
There are others around the Florida area and Georgia for Panoz. But check this site out.

thanks for the suggestions. i also checked out the site www.racingschools.com, lists a couple more schools. has anyone had experience with skip barber or tim o'neil? and still wondering if anyone is from around here that does local autox. my friend also wants to get involved, he has an '04 wrx.
Check out Beaver Run in west Pennsylvania, they've got much cheaper courses than Skip Barber at Mid Ohio.

Real simple, come down to Central PA and try autocrossing. It's cheap, a ton of fun, and will make you a much better driver in realistic situations (under 100mph). My local event runs a very long track, 60 seconds or longer, and there are lot's of very experienced drivers to help you out with your driving and car setup. You can get 10 runs in, and watch and spectate the rest. It's at an airport (mostly unused), so it's really one of the best locations in the country. I would be more than happy to give you directions and hotel locations (we have people drive up and back from all over). And there are novice drive-thoughs and walk-throughs.
You can drive your own car and don't have to worry about smashing it up and/or tire and brake changes every race. Road racing is awesome, but a good place to start is Solo2.
