I just drive normally, not fast, not stupid or anything. I have been stopped once for no front plate, once for tint, twice for exhaust, once for my car being to low (wtf?), once for my HIDs, ugh. Hence I didnt say speeding/stupid driving? Yeah.. I hate federal way cops. I understand rules are rules, but jesus christ leave the cars alone that are driving mature and responsibly.

Just the one for no front plate. The others were just the kind of stop that the cops do to let me know they are aware.

in Oregon you can get a specialty plate that has a one time $40.00 fee and is only required on the back - leave it to the gov to make something legal once they figure out how to profit on it ...

Bellevue will defenitly get you! I got stopped 4 times in my eclipse there, but 2 of those times they wanted to see the car and what was under the hood! Kinda weird.
yeah, it was most likely me, except i have a ski/snowboard rack and not a basket. which part of bellevue did you spot the car?

i've NEVER been pulled over in bellevue or seattle for not having a front plate. a few weeks ago i was pulled over twice within a week on i-90, and renton because i didn't have license plate tabs (i never got around to put them on... 9 months later ). i would have been f'ed if they decided to give me a ticket. i didn't have a current insurance card, 20% tint, no front plate, no tabs, and loud exhaust (no cat). just be honest (but bend the truth a bit) and they'll usually let you go with a warning. i told them i just bought the car (kinda true) and i didn't receive a front plate bracket and i ordered one, but it hasn't arrived yet.

Got pulled over a few weeks ago up here in Marysville by WSP for no frt plate, no ticket though. They are complete jerks (not the word i wanted to use) up here. They will pull you over for anything on I-5, they hate anything resembling a hotrod up here and especially imports. I literally see someone pulled over every day on my way to and from work in the five mile stretch between Tulalip and Arlington. He pulled me over doing exactly 60, in the middle lane after letting several cars pass us moving much faster. Was disappointed to see old guy i think. Also "warned " me about my exhaust. Do you have the RCW for that one?

I've seen a lot of cars with no front license plate in Bellevue ... so it's probably quite safe if you're mostly rolling around there.

BTW, not to jack the thread or anything, but since we're on the topic of traffic laws ... what's the maximum tint allowed in WA?

Exhaust are technically illegal also.

(3) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle not equipped as required by this subsection, or which has been amplified as prohibited by this subsection. A court may dismiss an infraction notice for a violation of this subsection if there is reasonable grounds to believe that the vehicle was not operated in violation of this subsection.

Except you really can't use it . The cop that pulled over hang187 just either doesn't know the law or know Evos very well. If you buy an Evo and get the plates for it, it is you who determine how many plates you should get not the dealer. Since the dealer only gives you the temp "plate" that you display in the rear window until the new plates come in.

Now what the partial argument could be is that when you buy an Evo in WA, the dealer is supposed to supply the front license plate holder as well. This completely invalidates this quotation (which is really the partially relevant one):

In cases where the body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this section is impossible, permission to deviate therefrom may be granted by the state patrol.

This would apply to any vehicle which truly does not come with a front license plate holder (techinically only some exotics). Some mitsu dealers for whatever reason didn't bother to give those front license plate holders with the car, but for anyone who didn't get it when you got the car, you paid for it in the price of the car so not having it is like the dealer jipping you since all they probably do with them is sell them as OEM parts to other people .

Cliff Notes: If you get a stupid enough officer to pull you over this will stand, a smart enough one or a court case it won't.

I didn't think that argument would hold up very well...
