v8 evo?

Yeah, let's take an engine weighing 3x more than the factory, give it the same amount of power (reliable though) and remove the AWD system. Evo trannys are transverse, meaning not in line with the car. There's no way a V8 would fit sideways and mate to the transmission.

A couple of things...
First, a small block Chevy has by far the best aftermarket avalibility of any engine. They can reliably make well north of 600 horsepower NATRALLY ASPIRED on PUMP GAS. Throw a power adder in there and they can make north of 2000 horsepower. All for similar engine part pricing to evos.
Torque is what breaks nearly ALL transmissions... We have several aftermarket transmission offerings for the evos today that have proven extremely stout.
Saying that a small block Chevy is less of a motor then a 4g63 is just stupid. Do you know how gutless 4g63's are n/a? Anywhoo, it should be an interesting project, and something different!

Im not a mechanic, nor am i very inclined in how motors and what not work. But i do know IMO i would rather put a ton of money towards a stock evo and just do all the upgrades i can think of, rather than doing a whole motor swap, custom fabrication, etc. Idk it just sounds like a pain in the neck, plus it would probably sound weird an muscle car sounding evo. unique tho..

i think its a great idea! just alot of fabrication and you could make the lsx engine series fit nice in there.yes it adds weight but if you get a stock 5.3 engine from a junkyard out a truck and throw a f-body serpentine system with a f-body oil pan and a regular ls1 inake manifold , not only will it fit imo but also you will be making 250 hp and 300 tq to the rear tire at the least. Now with this being said if you throw 2000 dollars in aftermarket parts it would be sitting right around the same power/torque as a 2011 lancer evolution. More in likely would need to do some weight transferring to give it that 50/50 feel...
(this does not include suspension havent got that far into my search been to busy driving my new lancer es!)
Now im looking into this cause i bought a lancer es fwd....
wich is why i "want" to convert it , would be a different story if i had awd...
So if you want it go for it

also remember seeing in this thread
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/la...-thread-2.html
about a rwd that is cheap and bolts up to the lancer! For me im keeping MY ES and saving money to trade in for a evo , BUT if i cant, well I got plans on making a 240 or mazda rx-8 track car for the four year time period of paying my car off... but once again it all starts with that ls1
(if i cant get the evo WICH I REally WANT)
