Windshield Help

So this morning a semi-truck kicked up a huge rock onto my windshield and left my an expensive present. I could probably just get it resin repaired, but also wouldn't mind replacing the already blemished windshield. My insurance claim would fall under the comprehensive which is $500 currently so I would like to find an alternative.

My question to you is has anyone had to replace the windshield around the sound Everett/Seattle/Tacoma area? Who did the replacement, cost and quality?

Also looking for a company that will actually use the OEM glass (as I have read a bit on how the lancer vs evo windshields are different)

Thanks in advance

Call around. This happened to me when I broke the windshield in my GTI. Call your insurance company, get a list of their preferred glass replace/repair companies. Then call them and get quotes. Keep going back and forth because most of them will price match.

I think safelite autoglass ended up coming to my house, and replacing it for about $140. OEM quality PPG glass. I don't remember the company exactly.

LOF, PPG , PLK, ULN are supposedly good brands that do OE auto glass

I've heard the Evo windshield is 4.15mm thick, the Lancer is 4.85; ~3lb difference and the rear-view mount is lower on the lancer so that has to be swapped over

I'm also interested as I need to replace my windshield sometime too...

I would pick about 4 or 5 different places to call. And get quotes, and keep telling the other what the last just quoted you until the prices stop going down. Takes maybe a half hour of calling. But it saves you a fair amount of money.

My windshield replacement started at over $200, and like I said, it ended up at $140 OTD, and they came to me and replaced it.

this must be going around because the same thing happened to me yesterday.

I better start calling, screw paying a 500 dollar deductible.

Just take the windshield out, Shane! They are over rated, and your car will weight less

Just playing man, obviously. That sucks! I don't know the best place, but I had that happen to me once (except it was a giant metal pot in the road that hit me), and I got his insurance to pay for it.

If you find a good deal, post it, cause Angie needs to get hers replaced.

I thought about it but with winter season approaching it don't want to be frozen in my make-shift-jimmy-rigged-diy-reverse-convertable. However I will re-spark the idea next summer when its warm

Im in discussion with my insurance, I may just lower my deductible to $50 and then just get the windshield replace later this month. Ill let you know on any new updates Shane.

^the Altima windshield works on the Evo? How much of a draft do you have going on?

BTW - I need a new windshield eventually too - Group Buy! It was literally a birthday present to me from a semi about 3 years ago.
