iPhone 5 issues with audio
iPhone 5 issues with audio
I did a search for "iphone 5" on the EvoM forum and came up with a ton of threads, but nothing about the iphone 5. I am sure it is out there, but I wanted to ask if anyone here in the OSport forum has had any issues with the iPhone 5 and being able to use it as an iPod?
I have it hooked up and it loads, then I can't control anything or get any music to play. I was finally able to get the On-the-Go playlist to play, but it took a while.
Anyone have an iPhone 5 (s/c) out there and have any tips or tricks? I bought the iphone si I would only have one device in the car instead of an android phone, and an ipod. Aggravating to say the least.
[Update] I did find a this on the old interweb:

It appears its the lightning cable that is the culprit. Thanks Apple for ruining my day. I guess I will have to hunt the adapter. A poster on another Mitsu forum stated that the adapter worked for them.
I guess this means case closed.....

I don't even use my regular ipod anymore, I use my iphone5 with blue tooth. it connects almost instantly as opposed to taking forever and always restarting the song that it left off on instead of where it actually left off. do you connect your phone through Bluetooth for the handsfree system? if so why not ditch the cable and have full access to your music on your iphone

Strongly agree with ditching that cable route and go BlueTooth especially now that your idevice is B.T. capable.
(the only minor downside to BT mode is you will not be able to charge your phone as you play your music list.)

cigar plug plug charger? Then the phone would think it's just plugged into a "wall" as opposed to "computer".

I have an issue with my iPhone 5S and the OS stereo as well but it's different. I have a flash drive with all of my music on it plugged into the USB port in the console. I got the iPhone about a month ago and ever since I paired it with the phone (I use BT for phone calls but the USB for music) I've had choppy music playback whenever the phone is "active". For instance, I'm listening to music, a text message comes in, and then for the next few minutes the music (playing through usb) skips. It's incredibly annoying and this didn't happen with my prior phone. I prefer to play the music through usb rather than BT but maybe I need to switch to BT for music too and see if this goes away.
Anyone else have this problem?

As for the other problem mentioned by someone else, I have a iphone5 and sometimes the music skips when I open a app or get messages and stuff, but mine does it occasionally not even hooked up to the car BT or by adapter. Mine was skipping every song when I opened a app or got a messages backwards.... the fix was power off the phone and turn back on. why it does it I have no idea, but its ocassionally if I run my phone for a long time without a shut down period.
I believe that when they make these Apple ready products they are designed more for the old 30pin cables so they do not work the same as with the new adapter.....that's what I have learned from my other stereos and devices with the iphone5

What you can do is put the phone in silent and if or when you use the navigation function, if you don't need the voice command prompts you can turn those off and it shouldn't skip anymore. Whats happening is the BT is trying to play the text chimes and the voice commands through the stereo, but since its not an actual phone call the BT module doesn't switch over to the BT Phone function. It causes USB media play back to skip and become choppy. Some phones do it, some don't but try putting it in silent and see what happens?

Yes. To be fair, it also happened in my Sync equipped Ford Focus and the aftermarket BT/USB Stereo in my SRT4.

Thanks for your input on that one.
