Off Topic...

I'm probably going to trade my OS in sometime soon, maybe next spring. I've decided not to spend money on parts for it, other than maintenance stuff. I'll still be around to contribute what little I do contribute and eventually upload my pics.

I like the vehicle, but I'm just not satisfied. I want more horsepower. I want to sit up higher, or go a lot faster. I can't really justify a Ralliart when I crave the power and stance of a big *** truck. I'm probably getting another Ram.

I love Mitsubishi and always will. I'll probably get an old Eclipse or maybe even a 3000GT to have as a toy.

What would be cool is to find a really old one, or something no one has seen in years, like a Starion to fix up.

And I could use that Ram to find it and tow it home.

I don't have much done to the OS. I did manage to get a good install on my Alpine head unit, since the Bluetooth is kaput. I ended up using a trim ring that Scoshe sells for the models with navigation. The metal brackets were the wrong size, but the trim ring worked. It's still not perfect, and I'd strongly suggest wiring amps to the stock head unit - and if you get a small one, DO NOT mount it behind the head, you WILL kill your bluetooth. I do have pics but I have been busy, and getting them off my phone has been a pain because I've been having issues with iTunes.

Anyway...Anyone got a Starion? I wanna do some research, but it'd be sweet to have something NO ONE else in my town has. And if there was one here, I'd know about it. Amarillo has car shows.

It certainly seems like it does. My old Ram looked new, and was a pretty sweet truck. It had a V6 so it wasn't fast, but it was nice to cruise around in.

I'm seeing quite a few 08 models like mine for around 10k. I'll probably trade my OS in toward the Wrangler my wife wants, and then have her pay for the truck. I don't need a NEW truck, it just has to have the features I want...Quad cab, V8, 4x4....Dodge or GM.

in TX bylaw (under residence requirements), statutes 5, article 7b, section 633

The law states - If you own any plot of land/dirt (greater than 1 square yard), then you must drive a honkin' pickup.

.

Way way

I loved seeing all those huge trucks in downtown Houston. Not a speck of mud on them. As we say up here, "All hat, no cattle".

BTW, if you are trading an OS for a pickup, you likely bought the wrong car the first time.

Oh, mine will have mud.

Anyway, yeah, I didn't buy the right vehicle, but it was what I needed and could afford when I got it. I had a truck before, but it got totaled. Rather than get another one, I tried an Eclipse Spyder and loved it. But I needed a back seat and gas mileage because at the time I had a 110 mile commute every day. We were paying almost $4 a gallon for gas, and I was lucky if I was taking home $1400 a month after taxes at the time.

I no longer have that commute...maybe 20 miles round trip now...and I make more money. I'll still be pissed if gas goes back up, but I'm either going with a much lower payment for a used truck, or one of the NEW v6 models that gets 25mpg on the highway. I'm leaning toward the Chevy...24mpg, 300hp, 300tq out of the Vortec 4.3. The Ram gets one mpg more, but has less power. But will be easier to get used. The Chevy will have to be brand new most likely because that v6 is new for 2014-2015 I believe.

I like the OS. It's a fine vehicle. I just want my truck back. I'd give it to my wife but she only wants a Wrangler.

As big as I wish mine was. I've decided to keep my OS and go ahead and mod it Not to the extent that Texas Travisty did...just intake, exhaust, and that pulley. And a tune when I get it all.

I don't want to deal with premium, so no turbo and no piggyback computer business.

I think, outside wise...I want either a carbon fiber hood or maybe a functional scoop/vent on the hood. I noticed that when it's 100 out, my short ram wasn't worth a crap. It'd be a good idea to get all that hot air out.

CF because just because. Also, my stock hood has so many repaired stone chips, I will eventually have to sand/paint or replace due to rust.

Appearance-wise...I'd also like a very slight lift, and a bull bar for the front.

I'm going to work some extra shifts, and get an 80s Chevy C10 and lift it, and turn it into redneck truck. Preferably an 84 so I can say it's as old as I am.

Anyway, going with RRM intake and having a shop make me a Magnaflow straight through exhaust.

to get some cold air in and hot air out under the hood for relatively cheap you can always do the RA Snorkel for around $80.00, this will get cold fresh air directly to your intake, and you can also do like I did and do hood risers they cost me $3.00 for the parts at home depo. just 4 1" longer screws and 4 1" spacers. This raised the hood up in the rear 1" and gets a ton of the hot exhaust temps out from under the hood. 2 cheap and effective mods that can be installed in an hour.

Those sounds great, and I love cheap DIY stuff.

I thought for a moment the evo x hood liiked similar to mine, but that's got to be too easy. I heard there was a performance shop here in town that'd make me a CF hood. Ill have to look into that. Or maybe just get them to do the vent fabrication or something.

found this by searching for ASX rather than OS since all that CF stuff seemed to be overseas. http://www.dhgate.com/product/front-...242583103.html

for that much, I'll just get it wrapped. I can't do it myself out in the wind, and I don't have a garage.

I wanna know how different the lancer/ralliart hood is from ours. I need to go see.

I wouldn't mind that CF hood in plain old steel.
