Shocked!!

Okay, not really, but I am thinking I need some new rear shocks. Given the short wheelbase of these cars does anyone have any recommendations? I am probably more interested in ride comfort than handling. Wuss, I know....

Are you beyond warranty? If not, you should be covered by the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty.
Is one of your shocks leaking or are you looking for some "upgrade"?

Ouch! Once you get the new ones and feel brave enough to replace it yourself below you can find a DIY video for it:

The problem is that for easy replacement you would need the entire strut assembly. If you have compression tools you may buy the shocks only for way cheaper (from your well trusted Alibaba or Ebay).

Nah, that replacement job is outside my pay grade. I have a great mechanic who will do the labour if I get the parts. Just looking for parts...

As far as shocks, pretty much oem, or the kyb oem replacements. But there's always the option of going coilovers.

i'm "shocked" at how cheap they are - used to dealing with performance cars.

never tried KYB, but they are a known good reputable brand.

rebate on them , too.

Pardon my ignorance (and I guess laziness for not Googling...) but can anyone with coil overs tell me the advantages/disadvantages? Besides cost probably.

never had them, but adjustability and lowering. you may also need a camber kit, and will need to have them adjusted right, or you'll make your ride worse.

unless you are racing, not needed IMHO, especially for a CUV like the OS/RVR.

Adjustability, lowering, quality over oem, and most are rebuildable, so they're able to outlast oem. But lowering springs are just as well good, but oem shocks can only last so long on lowering springs, so coilovers is way better long term. But I agree with land shark it's not NEEDED for a cuv, but it's choice, I'm lowering mine so coilovers is the best option

If your looking for nicer ride then Coilovers typically are not what you want they tend to ride stiffer but handle much better when done right. KYB is a good company but I was not a fan of the ride quality when I installed them on my Impreza. They made the car bouncy.
