Mother of Pearl
Went out for some shakedown pulls this afternoon and the car is back to making zeee powa. I made 3 pulls before fiddling with things and everyone was making 29.7psi of boost. I had my boost set at 27 psi with the old manifold; so I was loosing some airflow for sure with the RNR. At that boost level (roughly 30 psi) the car pulls like a banshee. Reviewing the logs I noticed an area with slightly leaner AFR's. I made an adjustment to the fuel map and it did nothing - at that point I knew I was out of fuel again. 30psi is too much. So I dropped the boost back down to 27psi and the AFR's dropped down rich in the problem area. Then I went back and fixed that up.
My trial version of Data Log Lab is expired, so I ordered a full version. But it isn't a download I guess - I have to wait. Lame. So I can't see where I am at in the pony department.
The car feels great though. I've got the Sparco back in, the rear seat out, and everything packed in my garage to head to the track for a lapping day this coming Thursday. I'll drive the car to work one day this week and maybe fiddle a little with the tune as well as filling some cans with E85. Otherwise I'm set to rock.
My wife called this afternoon from a gas station and said... "did you know they sell race gas at the station my mom fills up at?". I say, "no, what is it", she replies "Sunoco 110". I ask, "how much per gallon", she replies "I'm not sure I'll go ask....$7.98 a gallon". I say, "E85 is $2.29 a gallon", she says "Oh, I like that E85 stuff". So do I.

The washers help with clearance a little. I welded on plates with nuts to mount my flat bottom. It's not triangulated, I haven't done anything with bracing besides some stuff I hacked together years ago in the trunk.
The downpipe is a Megan racing part (cheap). It was the first thing I ever got for the car, it's OK, stainless pipe is stainless pipe for the most part.
The Accusump is a pressurized oil reservoir. If the oil pressure drops it injects oil into the system to bring it back up. It's a nice bit of additional protection for road racing and high G corners where oil pressure is an issue.
I had a few years of no track time when I first moved back to WA from Utah, just started again last summer, and only did one day before I pulled the motor to start all this stuff. So I don't know who had your car before... nothere might, he's a track all-star.

Pretty sure my modified single pump crapped out today. And it was brand new.
My AFR's went to the roof - literally at about 5500 RPM. I thought it may have been a logging error at first. I made a couple pulls and it is consistent every time. Very scary actually, knowing I made 3-4 pulls like this. Glad I was on E85.
I'm going to swap back in my stock walbro and lower the boost to 23 psi. I need the car working OK for the track on thursday, I guess I'll just run low boost.
This sucks.

Just ordered a Full-Blown double pumper from MAP. This issue may be the fuel filter that is integrated in the stock pump housing. If that's the case I'd need a new pump housing, which is a little over $100. So I might as well just get the full-blown.
I don't typically "super promote" vendors, BUT the guys at MAP have supplied almost every part I've bought during this build, and have always had THE best price and delivered on time. They are driving to get the parts from Full Blown (across town), and shipping over night.
Cliff Notes: MAP RULES.

Your build is really incredible, I have a couple of questions...
How much of your mechanical engineering background has paid off in this entire process? More specifically the engine build...?
Did you have a
shop manual on hand when you did all of this?
How is your clutch holding up to all the power since last I knew you went with the HDSS...?

The mechanical engineer aspect is basically part of my DNA, it's hard to know where it begins and ends. And some ME's can't put together legos... But it helps you under how and why things work certain ways and can be useful in problem solving situations. Being a decent wrench turner was helpful, and understanding tolerances and clearance was nice as well.
I had the service manual, and used it tons.
The clutch is doing fine, at least at this point.

Last night I went and gave the car a touch up on the alignment in preps for Thursday's track flogging. I struggled when I did it before the previous track day and wasn't happy with it - even though the car drove well.
I've got the front at -3.4 and 1/8" total tow out. The rears are -1.4 and zero toe. These are based on some input I've gotten from other R1 users.
This morning I got a package as promised by the guys at MAP... Install will be this evening.

You could just change the date on your laptop back a few months or years and it'll work fine if you need it in the meantime. But I wouldn't want to impose that if you use it as often as you do.
