Yea the launch and shifting sounded good. To bad I was in the lanes and couldn't see the pass in person. Not bad for low profile 18" tires

I've had the Exedy twin for the past 5 years. I've rebuilt it 5 times. It sucks ***.

-Pro's: Quiet, Smooth engagement, Doesn't eat your input shaft

-Con's: Horrible for drag racing, discs don't easily and quickly disengage - makes shifting a pain in the butt, improper design that allows the outer intermediate plate to warp with just one drag launch. Once it warps it makes disengagement even harder/slower. From then on it drags, makes getting into gear from a stop hard and makes fast high rpm shifting nearly impossible, very stiff pedal pressure, expensive.

I wouldn't recommend that clutch to anyone.

It also couldn't handle the power I'm now making (not its fault, as it isn't rated that high), but now that its slipping, I'm going to get a Quartermaster. I know from experience that I will pick up ET and MPH from switching to the QM because I can shift it twice as fast as the Exedy.

This was a FRESH REBUILD on the Exedy. It only had six launches on it and was already giving up, warped and causing bad/slow shifts until its demise where it couldn't even hold the power. It's still probably in good shape, but it didn't like massive torque very much....

Last run of the day. Logged it and filmed it this time. Got a good launch, did a 1.6 60'.... Shifts were okay, did as well as I think the exedy would have allowed. As soon as I got into fourth it slipped completely. I rode it out for a second but it never caught so I let off. Would have been the best pass to date without a doubt. Went 10.6@118. Also I did check the log and it was down on boost compared to the dyno runs and the last track session - guessing it was down 30ish hp.......

I realllly don't want to drop 2k+ on a clutch but I have no other options........

Good times man for the clutch slipping. I never raced with an Excedy Twin before but i hear the same feedback on them when they are in high HP cars. Quarter Master is the way to go. Ive ran them since 2007 lol. I love the QM 8 leg race version in my car. Shifts like butter and can handle as much power as you throw at it

I rebuild my Clutch 2 times a season. Once at the beginning of the season and once right before the Shootout.

Looks like some good driving there Justin. Im going to have to try an e-brake launch next time I go out to the track. Did you use the e-brake when we went to track?
