time attack rules are the original frame rails must be left intact.

Makes sense. I didn't know the rules required that. Good luck with the build, i am excited to see the outcome!

hey sorry for the lack of updates, we had a change of plans and have since started turning the evo into an off road race buggy, not sure if I should do a build thread on it or not but there is one on our racefab facebook

Crazy...

I got to ask though, with that kind of chopping, it seems like there is no way in hell any of the original chassis is straight now since none of it was done on a frame rack to hold everything in place while welding?

the chassis is built on a jig table and we have jigs that bolt on to different parts of the factory chassis, sills and pillars to hold the car in its original position. these are out as the car is now tacked to the jig table and internal jigs are out while we climb in and out while doing engine mounts etc

Nice, don't see many unibody cars cut up to that extent and it's always made me wonder how many shops are actually concerned about keeping things straight.

I was referring to post 28 where lots of structural metal is cut out and it's clearly not on any kind of jig and doesn't have any internal bracing. Did the car have to be pulled back into shape at any point or did it stay pretty well true during the hacking and cutting phase?
