I'm about to install a EF2 with a ported and coated MHI housing on my X. Should be fun and make some jam on E85

The BBX and Dom 2.0 (basically same thing) always advertised lower flow than actual.

From my experience, the MHI-18K and the above basically tune out the same.

All less than my power goals. I want more than 450 and less than 550 and not have to run the turbo on full kill to do it. For the track at least.

Well looky there...there is!!! .... Not sure if that is a problem if it is similar to the BBK full design that was so much fun. Had great transient response which rules for track use........ also

Features

Horsepower Rating: 520HP
Bolt-On

I would say 500HP would be just fine

Highest Dom 2.0/BBX I've tuned on the GST dyno was 450, and that was on full kill 28-30psi.

I want to make 450-500 at 24-25psi, without stressing the turbo and blowing a bunch of heat.

I think your higher CR would help in that area not having to over work the boost function...Oh you are considering 2.2L also?

You could always send the turbo to an FP and have them machine the MHI housing to keep it more stock appearing... I know they aren't listed on the site anymore, but I am sure Robert would be more than willing to build you something...

That's what I did with the EF2. Never trusted the housings that MAP supplied with their turbos. Hard to beat the trusty MHI housing

Unfortunately, it's hard to make big power on stock from Evo X stuff.

When I was talking to Aaron about a future upgrade for my friends X, he said they only were able to get ~540whp out of an FP red on a X, at a whopping 38psi.

The tiny exhaust ports on the X head that are good for emmissions aren't so great for power. Add in a restrictive turbine housing and the package doesn't do so great. Especially since the intake ports flow so well. The X really needs to breath better on the exhaust side to make power (T3 setup). It doesn't work quite the same as the 8/9 stock frames.

Yea it's interesting, I never made good power with any FP turbo on the X when tuning, at least compared to the 4G63. However the Blouch/CBRD turbos made great power for what they where, which I always found interesting.

The 4B11 REALLY wakes up once you go beyond stock frame and you can rev them. I had stock cam 4B11's with PT6262's make 450whp on 91 octane @25psi, which took a Blouch/CBRD stock frame E85, cams and 28-30psi to make.

Then, if you build them and really let them rev with a high flowing turbo, they can make really awesome power:

Cheap cams:

Not sure if I would go with used though. The X using flat tappet cams, improper break in can easily lead to a flat lobe, and a waste of money..

Wow very impressive, and the way you did everything very organize. Thank you very much for sharing. When I see this on Evo's with very minimal MODS, and the # they put down; makes me appreciate even more my EVO. =-)
