Block is windowed on both sides. Weather was really cold, like 40*, my guess is it was making more boost than what we tuned it for, and the stock rods had enough. Sent the #2 out. It was fast while it was together

It's getting a 4g64 block with a 94mm crank, and some stuff

Sorry to hear that, man. Luckily you know to build it better, stronger, and faster!

No. I'm lazy and the car doesn't even have a boost gauge (only have AFR, water/oil temp, and oil pressure) . This was a matter of when, not if. Not really upset about it. It'll be back in a few months with a lot more power and torque, I have been planning and saving for a build for a while. Would have preferred to have a useable block, but oh well.

Picked up a Mivec head. Rods and pistons are on order. 4g64 block is in transit. Pictures seem to still not work.

Plan is well underway Great to see you convert over to MIVEC

Very interested in what the final engine build will be & how it will perform

EDIT: LOL, was doing some quick searching on the diff between S2's & R2's & came across this quote back in 11/2016:

Also, the R2 is NOT "in between" the S2 and S3. Yes, it's duration is in the middle, but it has more lift than the S3. The R2 is the ideal cam for motor builds with >2.2L displacement that aren't revving over 9k rpm and are running a decent turbo upgrade and planning to make north of 600whp.

That's pretty much the plan lol. It'll be 2.23L probably won't rev past 8k with the red. Even with the eventual planned turbo kit and a precision gen2 5558, it'll probably be out of air by 9k. Going Mivec because it just makes everything better...

I hate you so much right now Sean. Hope the swap is as painful as possible

On a serious note, you decided on R2's over S2's? I sold my S2's in anticipation for R2's but part of me thinks I should have kept the S2's and did a back to back comparison. Sooooo even though youre going with a fancy pancy MIVEC head I'd love to see your powerband when its done on the R2's if you go that route.

I have to buy cams, and per Aaron, the R2's only see gains over the S2's when you have Mivec. So, going with R2's is a no brainer for me.

Wait, what? No gains to be had going R2s over S2s on non MIVEC head? So you're telling me selling my S2's was a giant waste of time? See I recall reading that you needed a ported head to take advantage of the extra lift from the R2's over the S2 profile.

Is my build falling apart over here as you quickly one up me?

R2's spool a bit slower on an 8, and a lose some low end. You see top end gains though. With Mivec, you don't see those low end losses.

I liked those Konig wheels! Did they require spacers?
