Something sounds wrong in the driveline. Its much more noisy than I'd imagine, and the variable frequency with tire rotation is not expected. Why do you think the clutch is slipping - because the rear wheels are not rotating while the front are?

Congrats on getting it running. It is all down hill from here. The debugging process starts now .

This is one of the coolest projects I have seen.

This project just transformed to a whole new level! Congratulations man! This is the first time any of us has seen an electric motor turn the drivetrain of an evo.

His car doesn't have an ACD. The VCU center diffs don't equally transfer power when the car is in the air. The VCU needs load to load apply lockup to the center diff.

Thanks all for the kind words!

I'm pleased that everything passed the first function test, but there is still a bit more construction left before a road test is feasible. The trunk Li pack needs some mounting brackets and I still have to mount the charger, BMS, and rear fuse box. At that point, the construction phase will be complete and I will work on wiring up the horn, lights, windows etc, in order to pass state inspection.

The knocking noise in the video seemed to be coming from the passenger front axle shaft/ transfer case area. I bought all 4 axles used and the pass side was definitely quite weak. It wasn't evident in the video, but at <10% throttle, the motor was spinning and the wheels were stationary. Perhaps the clutch is at fault. The 3 min video represents all the power testing I've conducted thus far, so I have a lot ahead of me.

That is awesome! Congratulations on the progress so far.
Have you messed with the clutch pedal adjustment yet?

Another congratulations post here! I've been watching your thread and the Mercedes Ponton thread as my two favorite builds going on.

I've tried several different USB-Serial adapters and several different drivers, but the best I can get is whats pictured below. I have a FTDI chipset on order, which is rumored to be the best for USB-Serial communication. Hopefully, that does the trick. I've also ordered a new throttle input. I never liked the Prius pedal.

I like how your background photo is my hometown's city skyline. OT but yeah, good luck with your project.

What's going on lately? Any updates as far as road capability? Did you get the rear drivetrain issue figured out?

Too busy with other obligations to even look at the car. I've been creating a list of about a dozen items or so that need to be checked off before neighborhood-road testing can begin. Perhaps this weekend I can get to work.
