[Evo8] - ProjectApex Build from the bottom

The Car:

2004 Evo 8 GSR SSL(apex silver)

Plans were to clean up the body, tighten up the suspension, and retune to hit high 3's or very very low 400hp but this soon changed after the motor went to hell.

Before she died this was her mod list:
  • BBK Full
  • GSC S1 Cams
  • 1000CC Injectors
  • GrimmSpeed EBC
  • ARP Headstuds
  • Wally 255
  • Greddy Intercooler
  • Megan Exhaust (o2 housing, downpipe, resonated test pipe & catback)
  • AEM Wideband
  • Jacks refreshed transmission and transfer case

What happened(I think):

Approximate Date: 9/23/2017
Year: 2004
Mileage: 127,000
Modifications: Stock Block, S2 cams, 1000CC injectors, CRBD BBK full port, 3in Turbo back,3.5in IC, 93 tune
Power: 341hp/304trq
What Happened?: hole in block.
Solution: In the processing of buying a built Map short block
Why?: 5th gear pull and lost oil pressure then BOOM( I wasn't driving, my friend was ;( )

Sad day..

Also, what should I gap this at?

Finally got around to tearing the motor apart. Looks like Cylinder one completely shattered and is in the oil pan. Cylinder 2 looks to be melted/shattered. Head is completely destroyed

Not sure, but he remembered the oil pressure gauge started to scream seconds before blowing up.

Yes, make sure they fully blueprint the block and check the crosshatching on the hone job...

**Update**
Head came in. I'm thinking of not ported/building the head because it won't be needed for the power level I'm aiming for now, around 500ish. What do you guys think?
