As I mentioned my friend gave me his CP-E exhaust which is 304SS, and he said it droned like a MF. So my plan was to not put it in without an APR resonator which is supposed to cancel those frequencies. The plan went good except for the fact that now the resonator is the lowest thing hanging under the car and there is no way around it. The car sounds AMAZING and I never thought an EVO X could be made to sound good. It is shocking to me how better it sounds from the magnaflow with vibrant resonator.

Today I made a bracket to mount a HALOTRON fire extinguisher. My brother pointed me in that direction as I didn't realize that "normal" fire extinguishers basically ruin everything you spray them with. Image using one to save your ride only to realize that it is ruined. Anyhow apparently the HALOTRON stuff is like residue free and won't destroy your engine compartment or interior. This is my first-time welding something other than a lawn ornament so be kind....

Halon type extinguishers are used in aircraft. I remember taking the old ones home from when I worked on GA aircraft.

1.4lb
Total discharge time of 9 seconds total... I would use it in bursts obviously.

HALOTRON is not cheap stuff.

Yea, I was looking at them, cheapest I saw was like $220 for a 1.4lb. But definitely good insurance.

I found mine for like $190 on a polaris parts/aftermarket site. I guess people mount them on the tube from of side-by-sides.

Very very nice thread 👍👍
I’m interested in your turbo choice, I’m currently in the process for my car (Evo 6 , building a second engine on an Evo 7 block).
I see your combo, which is very interesting because I’m also willing to keep the twin scroll, and looking for the Artec manifold
so here is my (probably very dumb) question : which turbine housing are you actually using ? Is it a «twin scroll mhi style » that bolt to the artec ?

The artec manifold flange matches the MHI twin scroll flange. The turbo I chose to use is a Garrett 3076R Gen2 ceramic ball bearing turbo which has a turbine house that is 2x the size (physically) of an OEM MHI turbine housing but the flange is a match of the MHI twin scroll. I wanted to keep the twin scroll, and for the X the options are not as many as they once were.

thanks a lot for the info 👍
do you have a link for this turbine housing ? I find only the usual « divided » units, with EWG.

Why older tech with the gtx 3076 rather then the newer faster spooling gt series? Other then they are 4k for the turbo?
