Picking up an EVO VIII that has been sitting since it was parked a few years ago. previous owner said it threw a rod and he limped home so I assume spun bearing. What are my first steps?

 

Welcome. Find the extent of the damage. Make sure there is not a hole in the block.

Decide if/where you want to get the engine rebuilt or just pick up a different engine.

Swap engine/ all fluids/ gas and hope she runs! Drive and find out what suspension parts need to be changed.
