05 Evo 8 Resurrection
Window and roof trim/clips ordered from Daytona Mitsubishi. Picking those up on Tuesday! Still a few odds and ends to finish her up cosmetically, but, that will be enough for the inspection. Already started the paperwork on that. Woot!
One of the few Red Evo's that I like! Generally Red color cars and especially Evo's are not my favourite but yours is amazing! Just from personal taste, I would stick with the RPF's and buy an Evo IX front bumper to fill the IC gap and make it look even more nicer. Keep up the good work man
I did the 2.2 as a compromise between the 2.4 and the 2.0...I wanted more torque at the cost of some RPM, but, still wanted it to be happy at sustained high RPM. It all depends on your end goal. If my crank would have been healthy...I would have stuck with the 2.0l. lol
Wow...that's odd. Haha! Where in FL?

I'm in Port St Lucie. I was following this thread and realized I deliver to that junkyard you went to in Vero Beach since I'm a mailman lol. I've decided to stay 2.0 since I was able to source a crank. Still in the process of gathering I beam rods and pistons. Trying to find a shop to assemble my shortblock will probably be the hard part lol.
I used a local shop that turned out to be the one that built the 4G63 in the DSM on Fastest Car on Netflix...lol He assembled the long block from a box of parts, so, if you can't find anyone and don't mind a drive, Venice Auto Marine (Vami) in Venice, Florida is good.
I'm sure you'll be plenty happy with the 2.0L. I just wanted that little low end torque bump since that's what I'm used to in everything else I own. lol
And ConEvo, thanks for the compliments. The RPF1s have already been sold. They didn't fit right, which the installation of the bumpers exaggerated even more...though I did like the look of them from the side. They're on the list of possibilities, I would be sure to get the correct offset though. I've also been considering NT03s and 57drs...they're all pretty common, but, I like them.
As for the Evo 9 bumper, I personally have grown to like the 8 front bumper as almost every Evo has the 9 bumper now. Lol. To be completely honest...I've considered the idea of going with an Evo 7 front end, but...in time maybe.

Hey everyone...I figured I'd update since the car has been through the rebuild process and tagged for almost two weeks now and I've already put 500 miles on it...without issue so far!!!
Anyways...to give everyone something to look at while you're quarantined...here's some pics from the first day driving it and some rollers we took last weekend.

For anyone who cares...lol...another update. I had the car properly cut, buffed, polished, and ceramic coated since the body shop did a terrible job with finishing. The difference is night and day...speaking of, I can't wait to see it in the sunlight as I just picked it up tonight. It looked 1000% better under the intense fluorescent lighting of the detail shop so I'm excited. I'll get proper daytime pictures later, but...these night photos would not have been possible before without seeing swirls everywhere. Lol.
