Nice work man. You paid close attention and fixed the issue before it became a real problem. Those cams look great .

Thanks, the engine looked great inside from what I could tell. The cam wobble was something I was keeping a close eye on then I just couldn’t wait any longer , it was leaving a lot of dust on the clear timing cover and I couldn’t watch it wear down any more and loose the damn belt and motor.
I’ve been so busy at work I haven’t done much updating...

Finished my 1000 mile break in miles and did a short 3rd gear pull and she sounds and feels so good. I need to change the fluids and log a pull for tuner then I’ll try to get a nice clip.

Changed all the fluids and went out to log a 3rd gear pull for tuner and under wot it breaks up or hiccups , when I’m not all the way on it it runs smooth ( sounds BAD A$$). I have ngk bpr7eix gapped to .020-.022 and run spoolin-up cop, I’m assuming I need a colder plug or gap them tighter? Thanks in advanced.

Thanks , I actually just ordered those from stm. I re gapped my bpr7eix plugs to .018-.020 and it seemed to work better but their not gonna cut it anymore.

How fresh are the plugs? A colder plug in this case isnt going to do anything to solve your issue nor do I think your setup warrants a colder plug.

Yup your right , we got the car to do a smooth pull. It was hitting boost cut so he was saying I’m having an issue with my wastegate actuator. I changed the plugs after breaking in miles were finished so they’re fresh , I had them gapped originally to .020-.022 and Now their at .018-.020, all I noticed was the idle went up a little that’s about it and I had brp7eix and I have a set of brp8eix on the way I sorta wanna try out.
The turbo setup is a bbk full bb, ported stock manifold, ported invidia o2, TS WGA with 20 psi spring which I think maybe be causing issues. Maybe for next year I’ll snag a big turbo kit vband everything but for now this is a good setup.

Fun times haha oh and now all the gears run smooth and no odd wobble.. 600 miles in

Just curious how did you come to the conclusion that the right cam was wobbly? Good that you caught it early on tho.

You could visibly see it , now they both are smooth as butter

Its good that your tuner is still using boost cut as some just max it out which is a horrible idea. Not sure who is tuning your car but that's good to hear...

How much boost do you plan to run? I used to have BBK Full and always ran a BPR7EIX in conjunction with a Spoolinup COP and never had blowout issues unless plugs were old. Your 20# gate may be slightly too stiff which may cause boost to spike higher than it should and potentially harder to control and dial in a nice curve.

I’m doing a remote tune from Aaron at English racing which is pretty cool.
i was thinking around 28 -29 ish psi area and I’m prob going to just put the WGA that came with the turbo on and max that out, I’m also going to pull the plugs out and open the gap a little , I don’t like how it’s idling right now with such a small gap

Oh lol yeah youre in good hands Aaron knows a thing or two about tuning. Like I said its good that he uses boost cut but of course he does bc well, hes a good tuner and is smart.

So if you have the factory WGA I think that should be fine to reach your target boost. When I first installed my BBK I ran the factory gate on 93 and ran 29# out of it and it was fine. I predominantly run the car on ethanol so ended up going to an 18# gate and turning it up but moral of the story was that I was able to see 29# on the factory gate.

Also, in regards to plugs I run a fairly large gap, I've always used .025" Not sure if its advised but my theory was run a large of a gap that you can without getting spark blowout.

I had an 18# spring on my 8 turbo then thought the 20# would work after talking to a few ppl. I’ve always had a gap around .020-.024 and I noticed no change when I opened the gap just now. I did feel a huge decrease in boost on the stock wga on my last pull, lost 10 psi but that’s what Aaron wanted to started low and bring her up. No hesitation or anything , still amazing it works haha

Yeah when swapping gates or dialing in boost on a new turbo its always a good idea to have it dialed down then bring it up. Knowing him he could probably take an educated guess and dial in the boost curve in like 2-3 revisions but still safer to turn it down then slowly work it up to make sure everything is working as it should be.

You're in good hands so just do what he tells you to do and car will be rock solid when done.
