Daytonakiamitsu on ebay have a few factory short blocks in stock between $2700 - $3000. The worry won't be when those run out, the worry will be when the 4G63/64 castings run out. At that point we would have no more "bolt in" engines and have to modify our motor mounts, bell housings, and engine control solution for an entirely different engine. There is always a CNC'd aluminum block replica

Seeing as how the KA24DE blocks from the 240sx are still around, I wouldn't worry too much.

Well I wasn’t happy with the oil pan seal I did so I re-did it and feel much about this time.

Looking great! STM pulley is on my list of things to do this spring/summer when I address some oil leaks out the front case.

thanks , I told myself before that when I got a new alternator I’d be getting that pulley lol. Ugh oil leaks are the worst, I hope I have zero leaks first time around lol we shall see

Well, my motor has about 80k on it. I'm planning on replacing the front case and all seals. Cam seals. And I also have an oil leak out of the back of the head gasket. Spoke to a local engine builder about that. He's given me some ideas, but I may pull the head and do some things there. Have to see how $$$ is. I need to address all this before I go bigger turbo, but it might be a good opportunity to put in a new valvetrain and S2s.

I hear ya , That’s sorta where I was but a different issue. I noticed on mine that none of the vins matched the chassis so I really had no idea about the health of that motor. I said the hell with it and sent the head to Curt Brown to get rebuilt and he put my gsc springs and retainers and new guides and seals etc.
I was going to send my block to have him build it but I just didn’t feel good about a built motor yet. I just ordered the fresh new one and I have my old one in the basement for a future project lol.
This is also my first motor assembly so I’m still learning but I love it and feel good about this one thus far.

Gsc zero tick lifters installed and bled.
I soaked them in diesel for a week then bled them and let them soak in a new container for another week. Then pulled them out bled them and soaked them in oil for 3 weeks lol , bled them again and installed squishy.

Removed the OFH plug so I can install my oil pressure gauge. Here’s some pics and before I install the stm remote kit for this, is there a torque spec for the plugs on the OFH where the kit bolts to? Thanks in advanced..

Heated this sucker to around 200 degrees and it came right out

I used the 3m silicone that is recommended and torqued back of block fitting to the 19 +- 3nm and torqued the OFH housing to 10nm. Seemed to go it the same amount the plug was in. I saw that number on a dsm OFH after all day of searching.

Little update.. motor is assembled and timed, pin moves freely and I turned it over a bunch of times it’s good as far as I can tell and everything lines up, this was a major accomplishment for me ,Here’s some pics!
