the ohlins are due for a rebuild as well so those are coming off too. maybe i can try that stuff, get new OEM wheel bearings, etc.
FWIW, as mentioned the shop (evo guy) inspected the suspension and didn't see anything out of the ordinary
Take it apart before ordering anything. I'm guessing the evo tech didn't see any bent tie rods or control arms, but you have to get the control arm off the car to really inspect the bushings and the ball joint.
The whiteline kit does come with the tie rod ends and ball joints, and its what I use since my car is lowered (and Mitsu doesn't sell replacement ball joints). The Tie rods/ends are what set the toe in the front. You could have a bent tie rod which would be something else you would have buy, but it sounds like that's already been looked at so your probably good there.
As for bushings, the only thing I have experience with are the Ralliart bushings, and I like them a lot. You have to order them from Japan though so it takes some time to get them.
it sounds like an axle CV is going bad if its only on full lock. not sure if u guys can get just the cv or wether u have to replace the axle. fronts are cheap enough on ebay
yea, extremely relieved. i looked over the car closely, there's some orange peel in the paint sure, but it's not bad, not something i've ever cared about.
the only thing that is persisting is a popping noise from the right somewhere when i go full lock at low speeds. axle? checked the boots, not torn. i'll check the shop if they noticed anything, but not sure what it might otherwise be, any ideas?
Check your tie rod ends and the ball joints, the axle nut, the coilover collar/adjustment..
Is your car ACD as well?
Besides looking normal i would still check to make sure those areas are indeed tight.
My buddys evos had a similar noise only felt when locking in a particular direction. For mths we couldnt figure it out, someone told him to check the diff in the transfercase. Ended up being the lsd in the transfercase where 2 bolts broke causing the diff to be loose. Found the issue, replaced the bolts this weekend, noise gone. Didnt even have to drop or take off the transmission to check and fix.
May be the final thing to do in case you dnt find the issue.
Not necessarily. The only time that noise was heard was locking to the right, where i believe the axle in that extended position and rotation caused the now loose diff (due to the loose diff bolts) to knock against the diff casing somewhat. Im not saying that this is definitely your issue but if you cant find the problem anywhere in the suspension the diff could be your next point. And seeing as the car was in an accident who knows what may have happened there if anything at all.
See attached pics. Im trying to send a vid of the loose/broken diff bolts. But the file isnt being accepted.

Damn thats lucky you guys found that. Normally when diff bolts back off like that everything goes KaBoom.
Also i must ask, do you always carry a gun when working on your car? Love how most of us would have a hammer or screwdriver in the edge of the photo but youve got a gun haha. Rough neighborhood?

Yup found it in the nick of time. All 4 bolts were loose, of those 2 were broken. Keep in mind this is on an evo 6 whos transfercase we assumed has never been touched. Its been documented such issues with V's and Vi's from factory however.
Gun.....what gun....? I don't see any gun.....
Neighborhood is quiet and those are the ones you need to be prepared for.

Off topic slightly, but If I leave my house, I’m carrying. It doesn’t matter if I’m walking one of my dogs or taking my children to school.
The world has turned f* ***g crazy and you never know what’s going to happen, so I’m always prepared.
