Back story:
I purchased my 2004 Apex silver evo 8 3 years ago from Maryland. While driving the car home from Maryland I ended up windowing the block and trashing the head.
1st rebuild I bought a new map block with the works(2.0L), used head(it had the works), ect the car spun a bearing at 500 miles.
2nd rebuild I got fed up and sent it to ESPEC for a rebuild(piston, rods, crank, oiling, ect) then had tons of oil leaks, boost leaks, ect. Started noticing the oil had a goldish tint after about 1k miles but nothing in the oil filter. Drove the car for another 100 miles and broke the transmission. At this point it I ended up pulling the engine to inspect the bearings and sending the trans to TRE. Let's just say my bearings are trashed, the cylinder ways are trashed. I pulled measurement for PTW, Mains, Rods, Trust and everything was crazy loose and different across the board. Mains\Rods were .005-.009, PTW were .007, ect. I wanted to double check my numbers were correct and sent it out the machine shop...Guess what, it was the same. The block had a repair sleeve, the main are trashed from being aligned hone correctly. On the plus side, the crank/rods/pistons(need to be recoated) are ok. At this point i've given up and listed the shell for sale. After a few days of thinking I decided to keep it and get it done as I love the evo platform.

Update 8/2/2022
Tune Completed.
Well, here’s what happened.
car made 792hp/650tq @ 42psi on e75. Had to stop because it started to drop fuel pressure up top. Guessing the dual 450s and stock fuel lines held it back. Going to upgrade the lines and pumps in the winter and go back.
dialed the car back to 38psi to keep things safe. Still seems like a torquey street monster.
it's coming along!
Still waiting on buschur(Jimmy for the block and head(hopefully shipping this week)...Never happened.
Thats a series of unfortunate events. Hope you get it sorted.
Have you considered selling your crank and going to a 94mm so the car will drive better and have a larger powerband?
Before you choose your turbo I would lay out what your power goals . This platform at 600-750whp seems to live well when done correctly. A smaller turbo would have better transient response and may be more fun. The new Garret series looks promising.

Yes it is!
The goal is to hit 725-760whp with the max RPM at 8500(maybe 9k if I can). I'd assume the 94mm crank will be a 2.2L?
I don't plan on using the old crank, pistons, and rods for this build.

Yes, a 94mm would be fine. I'm using an early billet Manley 94mm and its fine. Tune up is important regardless of whatever crank is used.
A 2.2 4g63 with 153mm rods works out to be 9400 or so for recommended max piston speed. So with a taller block and 156mm rods 9400+ is feasible. May also want to get the ER oil pump gear to slow the pump down.
Some people including myself prefer the 63 block for more surface area for the head /gasket to bolt to. If you are doing the 64 block, may be a good idea to have a machine shop add a fire ring.
Definitely build a 2.2L/94mm crank if your short block hasnt been started yet. You can run a 156mm rod with the appropriate piston compression height.
I will have g30-770 results this weekend. Hoping for 650whp on the "kill" tune.
The 6466 will do 750whp with those smaller cams and stock intake manifold in the ver upper 30's, maybe 40psi of boost. It'll be in boost by about 4600-4700rpm with the twinscroll hotside in 1.15ar.

I ordered the morrison fab stock placement TS kit since it has a 17 week lead time. The original plan was to go with a head games head but it was ported from the last build so I'm going with a buschur rebuild/refresh stage 2 head.
I haven't ordered the block yet as I don't want to have it sitting in the garage collecting dust and possibly rusting. Going to order that once I have all the parts to assemble the block.
Since the bearings were ****ed from the second build I want to get a new oil filter housing and oil pan unless these parts can be thoroughly cleaned. Has anyone successfully clean and reused these parts?
