time to get up to date

so back in 2023.....(ignore some of the words/dates, as I'm copying them over from an Irish forum)

Wow - 10 months since I last updated this thread, the car just past the NCT yesterday so no better time to update the thread.
I popped the EVO into storage in October and it emerged in April/May. Started first time.
Anyway - getting an NCT slot was a chore but I lined one up for July. During the downtime I was ordering bits and pieces it needed and others I wanted.

First up - some carbon fibre effect pillar stickers, not to everyones taste but they caught my eye and I couldn't say no.

Then it was time to put the car on a diet:

Removed the ETC reader and its stack of wiring
Removed old GPS wiring
Removed my double din head unit and its associated looms upon looms.
Removed rear wiper arm assembly
Removed something else (which is displayed in the photo - see can you spot it. The part was nearly 9kg removed)

However I do like my tunes in the car and I had already installed a mini amp in the lower glovebox (as the android headunit just didn't punch enough volume)
I noticed an advert here for a Type R Integra - that Honda made a part which blanked out the headunit. So sourced said part and made it fit, with that in mind I then went looking for some sort of 12v bluetooth receiver so I could play my music via the phone.

Thats when I stumbled across headunits used on boats and ATVs - I found a tublar shaped receiver with controls that fitted in place of the 12v cigerette lighter. I'm now looking for a way to cover the tribal style logo on the unit possibly with the correct sized sticker, however its indented and painted white.

Then just to make sure all was well, after removing so much (stuff!) it was time for a spin. I made sure to put the boot down past the Inn also.

The stars then aligned - I was able to drop the Evo off to my Evo specialist whilst we went away on our hols. Safe in the knowledge a jobs were going to be done while we sunned ourselves !

On the list of work:
-slightly more aggresive alignment - the turn in now is sublime.
-new OEM turbo actuator. These failed over time by design, mine was still the original one and was hanging on for dear life !
-ARP extended wheel studs - I run 5mm spacers to allow the BBS LM clear the Brembos - and for safety I wanted more threads ! plus I love the look of the extended studs.
-new rear disc pads and Goodridge steel braided lines

Thats pretty much up to now - I think the Boot Inn photo is out of sync though theres still a rear wiper !

These are to be filed under things you don't need for your Evo but decide you want them purely based on how they look and ironically will be barely visible once fitted.

I present Kevlar wheel arch liners. Completely unnecessary !

2024 !!!

Last August '23 - finally got around to fitting some Laile beatrush bits - battery relocation (which required lighter/smaller battery) , and a better cold air intake. I was able to keep using the HKS parts though. I was pretty unhappy with the silver intake pipe, and lost the run of myself with gold tape, only to be caught out when I needed a samco stepdown coupler (still haven't sourced a black one)

The intake sounds lovely now - and all adds to the noises up front ! whoosh

There was also time for a wee trip up the mountains - always enjoyable regardless of the weather, but I will admit the loose chippings rattling off the body was a bit annoying.

Car was put away in September/October then - until 2024. Meanwhile I decided to declutter/sell off some of the my retro bits and bobs - which all sold surprisingly fast but created a lovely war chest for the Evo.

so 2024 - the year of fixing annoyances !

The sunroof motor had been giving some grief since purchase, but I managed to source a replacement. So with Fresh NCT passed I decided to tackle. I lowered the headliner, and managed to undo the old motor, and replace with a working one, complete with breakers yard blue paint.

Was spotted in Mondello after that

Then I decided I wanted a 3 point brace for the front, but also an integrated brake master stopper. Step in Cusco with a solution, and also I snagged a rear cusco brace at the time also.

We are almost up to date now - I replaced some interior bits and bobs with new parts, and continued on my attempt at making a sort of Clubsport Evo 5

Fitted new stalks for example, but also replaced little pieces of trim etc, suchas fitted new dial cluster glass/plexi

I finally decided to tackle the AYC also and get the pump refurbed.

and while it was up in the air - a new Fujitsubo downpipe (2kg lighter ) and refresh of the rear diff mounts.

Car is off currently getting this work done - but on its return a slight change to the interior is to be done, alongside, something on the exterior. I'll try to keep the thread updated when that is complete.

So possibly the last bit of spending this year - I picked up a set of Evo 5 RS door handles - aka plain matt black handles. They add zero to the car, probably confuse people more and I can always revert but I like the contrast.

Finally got around to picking up a 2nd Recaro Pole Position, and thankfully I already had all the required rails etc to easily install. I reckon a leather retrim next year to match the rest of the interior theme (black with red stitching).

2025 PART 1
small bit of a freshen up for spring with these few bits. New stock from Japan.

front side lights
side indicators
positive battery terminal cover
licence plate mounts
fly windows seals (more on this)
aircon fuse box cover (bought 2 by accident doh)
bonnet front seal
engine bay rear seal

I've gotten my fix by fitting them all earlier, except for the fly window seals. Looks like I have to take off additional trim, which I fear could snap. So will order fresh ones just in case. but before then another scan of the car for other bits that I might like to get.

New Tein coilovers fitted - alignment gone a smidge more aggressive too. These are middle of the road coilovers and I really liked the ride quality of the previous set on the car.

While getting them fitted, we noted the radiator was sweating/leaking a smidge top and bottom. So new Koyo ordered, went with the uprated 53mm size.

Out with the old calsonic rad :

in with the new koyo

Sprayed the old fanshroud black too - while it was out.

Finally nabbed another 1:64 scale Evo 5
