Got all the transmission fitted and most of the car back together. To be honest it all went smoothly, didn’t have any problems with anything aligning up etc..
Fitted all the air lines for the gearbox, tested it and it’s all working. Car is fully back together now. We got all the base settings set up with the link ecu and tested in on the hoist. Also took it for a little test drive around the block to make sure it was okay under load. Damn the gearbox is loud lol, in a good way, sounds like a full on race car with the straight cut gears.
New steering wheel for the car, it’s a MPI wheel, same as the v8 Supercars use. Feels good in the hands, and has the button cutouts so no need for a button plate.
Conditions were less than ideal, track temp was 72°c and my air inlet temp was 70°c, also was loosing about 4psi of boost due to the heat.
So first session out on track I was testing the shifts. The upshifts were great all be a couple of double cuts from 4th to 5th. The downshifts weren’t that great, need to use the clutch otherwise it felt very aggressive. Just needs a bit more fine tuning which we will do.
All in all car felt very good, power felt awesome, car dies rocket through the gears, reminds me off my race bike. Diffs felt great although I didn’t do a 100% push lap due to the temperature being so hot, oil temps got pretty high and the track had no grip.
I ended up getting P2 in the championship which I was happy with.
Now I can go back home and get the kw suspension fitted.
Here’s a lap with the sequential, as you can see there’s a couple of double cuts on a few upshifts. Still using the clutch but we will get that sorted.
