After the wiring and all the Motec goodies it was time for a shakedown before world time attack, this was just to fine tune the gearbox and diff setting with running the new Motec gprp pro software.
It was also my first time using aero, no abs and the ssb bullet uprights.
The test was a success, first day was sunshine and we did about 40 laps, second day was smashing it down with rain so we only did about 15 laps. The way the car turns in is literally incredible.
Brough the car home after the test, now it was time to get it looking good for wtac.
I got a 9 front bumper and lip, painted them both blue. Also painted the carbon doors blue, i matte cleared the doors first, I left the inside and the door moulding and top of the doors carbon so you could see it.
I fitted up all the freshly painted parts and now it was time for the decals, I went silver as I really like the blue/silver combo. I think the end result was awesome, world time attack is next week and I can’t bloody wait.
First time at Sydney Motorsport Park & what an incredible weekend
P7 In Open Class
Best Lap Time Of 1:35.5
Thursday practise day we managed 15 laps and finished with a 1:40, the alternator decided to die on session 3 so we didn’t make it out for session 4. Managed to get a replacement alternator and we got the car fixed and ready for Friday.
Friday we managed 11 laps and finished the day with a 1:37.4, getting more used to the circuit & aero. We didn’t make it out for the last session due to the welds on the exhaust muffler cracking, thanks to alex from Dahtone Racing we got that all sorted
Saturday was the final day for competition, first session we did 5 laps with a best of 1:35.5 with traffic which was awesome! Was looking to dip into the 34’s but due to red flags on the first flying laps in sessions 2 & 3 we didn’t get the chance to improve so the weekend was finished.
Pretty stoked with that after only 31 laps at the circuit. The mighty 400bhp evo stood up to the task with ease considering we were about 200bhp down on all the other cars in the class and on a smaller 265 tyre compared to the 295.
Few little changes will happen between now and next years wtac and I already can’t wait.
After wtac I changed all the oils and did a little bit of maintenance on the car.
Then it was off to my local track for a practise day, I was keen to drive the car here as I no the track and I hadn’t driven it here since before I did all the massive changes.
Car went fantastic here, ended up going nearly 3 seconds faster than when I was last here which is pretty wild. Few pics from the practise day.
So originally I was going voltex wide body and I placed an order for the kit, after a few months I was told it’s gonna be between 18 months to 2 years for the kit so I cancelled it.
Then a few months ago a genuine second hand kit turned up for sale and I just had to purchase it.
This also meant that I could now run the bigger 295 tyre, so I ordered some new wedssport wheels in size:
18x10.5+12, also ordered some 20mm spacers.
The kit consisted of:
Voltex cyber front bumper, carbon lip & carbon splitter
Voltex cyber carbon twin canards
Voltex cyber front fenders & over fenders
Voltex cyber rear fenders & over fenders
Varis time attack skirts with carbon under board
Finally it was time to fit everything up & put the decals on. The wider wheels and spacers gives the car an extra 55mm track each side, it’s pretty damn wide lol.
I’m so happy with how the car look, always wanted the voltex kit and now I’ve finally got it.
